Darcie – Now Adopted!

Lady Darcie Is Home!

We are absolutely over the moon to and able to announce that our Little Miss Darcie has made her way to her forever home.

Darcie’s forever home is with Jaci, Joy and their children and we’re thrilled to say that Lady Darcie has settled right in.

She has wasted no time getting her paws under the table and making herself at home. She has enjoyed a family day out to the beach and lots of snuggles on her human size dog bed.

The whole family are completely in love with her.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Sharon for being the best FM Darcie could have asked for. You have prepared her beautifully for her forever home.

So will you all please join us in congratulating Jaci, Joy and their children on becoming Lady Darcie’s forever slaves.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Darcie is a sweet natured and affectionate she is a laid-back little girl.

Darcie’s world revolves around her humans, any love and time you put in she will give you back x10 over.

Darcie loves all attention especially being groomed, cuddles and kisses. If she isn’t at your side you will find her in the sunniest spot she can find, enjoying a snooze.

Behaviour:

Darcie has a jealous side and doesn’t like to share her humans with other dogs.

But she more than makes up for having to be an only dog, with the love she showers her humans.

Darcie’s cheeky personality and playful side comes out in her epic zoomies, with her sight not being the best with only 1 eye Darcie may knock into things and people.

Needs:

Darcie needs a calm family home, with a family who understands her needs and sight disability.

Darcie needs a family is a go with the flow kind of girl that will suit the majority of family dynamics.

A garden is a must as she absolutely loves to lounge in the sun.

Walk/exercise:

Darcie loves her walks, but they need to be controlled so not to overexert herself.

She loves meeting new people and will happily interact with dogs whilst out.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Darcie is a good girl.

Travel:

Darcie does not travel well. She can be highly anxious which causes her to pant heavily. Because of this any applicants must live within an hour travel time from her current location.

Things to be aware of:

Darcie will be having her cherry eye repaired prior to going to her forever home, her new family may need to be a little patient while we make sure all is healed.

Darcie may need BOAS surgery this will be the responsibility of her new family, controlling her diet and weight is a must.

Darcie must be kept cool during the hot weather and have minimal exercise.

Sometimes Darcie is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as Darcie has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Darcie is an incredible young girl, who hasn’t allowed her difficulties hold her back. Losing her eye hasn’t affected her confidence in the slightest. Darcie is every part a companion looking for her other half, someone for her to keep company along life’s journey making memories and having adventures along the way.

A little of Darcie’s story below,

Please welcome Darcie, to the GBSR family!

Darcie is a 3year-old entire female. She is in a bit of a mess with her eyes.

We were contacted by her current owner around 2 weeks ago, asking for us to take in little Darcie as they couldn’t afford the treatment this poor girl so desperately needs.

Unfortunately, as you can see Darcie has already lost her right eye apparently due to cherry eye issues.

She also has a huge cherry eye in her left eye obstructing her vision.

Darcie was collected by her foster mum Sharon in the North East yesterday.

We registered her with our vet straight away and got her an emergency appointment this morning.

Indeed, Darcie’s situation is a pressing one we are in a race against time to save her remaining eye. Her breathing isn’t great, and her skin is raw in parts requiring some antibiotics and TLC.

We are going to fix her cherry eye to give her back some sight, spay her and deal with her skin issues. We have a current estimate of £1200.

Let’s come together as the GBSR family to ensure Darcie gets the care she needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in Darcie’s life.

A heartfelt thank you to Sharon for her swift action in getting Darcie to safety and providing her with the much-needed TLC. With the continued support of the GBSR family, we can look forward to a brighter future for Darcie.

We are always very grateful for your support of our dogs, you are the people that make a difference to their worlds with us so, anything you can spare for little Darcie would be amazing.
