Rocco – Now Adopted!
We have some wonderful news, Rocco is home!
Here’s a little summary of Rocco’s first few days from his new slaves Kathryn and Lestyn!!
He’s settled in really well, he’s very chilled out and good as gold. He especially enjoys sprinting through the house then dramatically splatting on the floor. So much so, we’ve nicknamed him Rocket Rocco or Pocket Rocket.
He’s been playing in the garden, had some walks down the lane nearby and has made friends with all the neighbours – including our neighbourhood dalmatian and bullmastiff. He’s been enjoying the park (especially when we have a coffee and watch the world go by). He’s already scoped out his favourite snoozing spot in front of the sofa where he snores like a walrus (as Lorraine will know all too well)
Aww Rocco what a fabulous start to your happy ever after
We would like to say a massive heartfelt thank you to Rocco’s amazing FM Lorraine. You have been absolutely amazing with the little fella and have prepared him beautifully for his forever home.
So will you all please join us in congratulating Kathryn, Lestyn and Rocco, we wish you many happy years together!!

A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Rocco is the epitome of a companion; he is living his best life at your side and thrives on affection.
He is such an outgoing boy and is happy to go with the flow at home.
Rocco is lover rather than a playful soul, coming into foster he didn’t know how to play with toys, he much prefers a cuddle and a good bum scratch.
Behaviour:
Rocco doesn’t like when a visitor comes to the door, he will bark.
However, he has learnt boundaries quickly, and isn’t allowed to approach the door or guests until he is calm. He hasn’t an aggressive bone in his body and loves to greet his guests once they are inside.
Rocco doesn’t like sudden loud noises; he will run away and bark but soon settles with reassurance.
And he’s frightened of going up or down stairs outside the home.
Needs:
Rocco needs a calm and relaxed home environment, with an active family one where his humans will keep him involved with all that is daily life.
Rocco will benefit massively from a calm and laid-back doggy companion in the home. It will hopefully bring him out his shell, encourage play and give him company when his humans can’t.
A garden is an absolute must for this boy as he loves the outdoors.
Walk/exercise:
Rocco loves his walks; he currently enjoys 2 walks a day.
He walks very well on his lead and is quite slow but soon settles to walk at your side.
Rocco enjoys exploring new smells and meeting new dogs and people out on his walks.
Rocco isn’t a fan of small yappy dogs and will turn to his foster mum for reassurance.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Rocco is a good boy.
Travel:
Rocco loves a car ride; he will settle down but hates the rear wiper and will chase it when in operation.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Rocco lost his left eye to an untreated ulcer.
Rocco will need daily lubricating eye drops for his right eye for the rest of his life. This can be bought over the counter at reasonably low cost.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information:
Rocco is the most affectionate and loving boy, that just takes everything in his stride.
Rocco has taken no time at all to learn commands and thrives on positive reinforcement.
Anyone would be lucky enough to call this boy theirs he will lighten up any family and bring so much love and joy along with him.
A little of Rocco’s story below,
Please welcome Rocco to our GBSR family!!
Rocco is a 2year old entire male.
We were contacted by Rocco’s owner for help as she felt Rocco wasn’t settling well in her home and she didn’t have the time he needed for his care.
How could we not help this beautiful little one-eyed boy?? Who by the sounds of it has had quite a few homes in his very short little life already.
Rocco lost his eye quite traumatically, he had a severe eye ulcer that ruptured, we can’t begin to imagine how awful that must have been for him. There was no way we could allow him to be passed from pillar to post again. He has suffered enough already.
A huge thank you to Lorraine Barson for coming to Rocco’s aid and welcome to your first foster journey with us.
Rocco has so far settled very well took no time at all finding a spot to have a wee and a poop the moment he arrived home and a warm place to snooze!
Rocco will be seeing our vet during the week where he will get a full health check and we can make sure he’s doing absolutely fine without that eye.
Welcome beautiful boy we can’t wait to watch your story unfold!!
