Cowboy – Now Adopted

Dogs name: Cowboy

Age: 1 year old.

Current location: Taunton, Somerset.

I CAN LIVE WITH

Children: Yes, dog savvy children.

Cats: Not tested, however has shown no malice when seen outdoors.

Dogs: Yes, no entire male or female dogs and must be accepting of a young male in the home.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Cowboy is a bright energetic and playful young male.

Cowboy will seek his humans for attention and affection and will initiate both play and affection from the other dogs in the home.

Cowboy is a typical young male bulldog, the epitome of companion breed.

Behaviour:

Cowboy has done extremely well learning his basic commands.

Cowboy enjoys a good rough play game and loves to play with his tug rope both with his people and the other dogs in the home.

Cowboy can be excitable and can hump the male in the home.

Needs:

Cowboy needs an active family environment, with a family committed to continuing his training and helping him reach his full potential.

Cowboy needs a family who understands bulldog play behaviours.

A garden is a must to give Cowboy plenty of space to play.

Cowboy would benefit from a laid-back, patient and playful dog in the home to help him learn the ropes and to keep him company when his humans are away.

Cowboy is crate trained, we would recommend that his new family continue this as he settles into his new environment.

Walk/exercise:

Cowboy loves his walks; Cowboy walks well on the lead and prefers to walk with company.

Cowboy is happy to meet unfamiliar dogs whilst out.

Cowboy doesn’t have any recall so we would recommend training or to only walk him on lead.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Cowboy is a very good boy.

Travel:

Cowboy loves a road trip.

Cowboy settles very well in a travel crate.

Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Cowboy is too young to be neutered he will be adopted on a “to be neutered” contract. We will recall Cowboy at 18months (March 2025) to be neutered at a vet of the charities choosing, costs covered by the charity.

Cowboy may need BOAS surgery in the future, this will be the responsibility of his new family. Currently controlled through diet and exercise.

Sometimes Cowboy is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Cowboy is everything you would ask for in a young boy, affectionate, playful and stubborn the absolute best parts of a bulldog.

Cowboy is a well-rounded boy suitable for the majority of family homes. Any family lucky enough to adopt him will be truly blessed.

Cowboy’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Cowboy’s story below,

Cowboy in foster – South West

Let’s welcome the very gorgeous Cowboy into the care of our Springboard family

Cowboy is a 13-month entire boy who has been owned and loved by his family from the age of 8 weeks.

Cowboys’ owner has a disabled child who is becoming more dependent on his family, and his owner is finding it hard to give him the time he needs, so she has reached out to us for help.

Thank you to Holly Hughes, who kindly collected cowboy for us this weekend.

Cowboy is being introduced slowly to Holly’s resident dog, Beanie.

Holly is taking introductions slowly, and they appear to be accepting each other and have been playing a game of ‘tug’ through the gate. As with all our foster dogs, we encourage slow introductions to allow the new dog time to decompress.

Cowboy has a cherry eye gland that keeps popping out, and he needs to be neutered in due course, so he will be assessed at the vets when he goes on Wednesday.

So please join us in welcoming Cowboy to the next chapter in his life.
