Finnick – Now Adopted!
Let’s start the week off with the BEST news, #Finnick is home!!
Finn didn’t have the best start to life. Back in April, he was found as a stray, wondering the streets and was due to be PTS if no rescue space could be found
Step in our amazing team of volunteers! Kathy and Paul rushed to Finn’s rescue to get him safe and into temporary foster. Finn quickly went to the vets as we were worried about his breathing, loss of fur on his body, and a large lump on his neck!
The vet advised that Finn needed BOAS surgery, so he moved to join Rhonda in the South East to have the surgery done by one of our trusted vets. Finn thankfully recovered well after his surgery after lots of love and snuggles from his FMum
But our poor boy just couldn’t catch a break. The lump on his neck was an infected salivary gland, and antibiotics wasn’t tackling the infection like we had hoped. After speaking to the vets the only option was for Finn to have his salivary gland removed.Finn moved to the Midlands to join Jo and her family and to be close to a vets who were confident in performing the surgery!
In the meantime, we we’re on the hunt for Finn’s perfect forever family… enter Lindsey and Paul
Lindsey and Paul officially adopted Finn at the start of July, but unfortunately, Finn had complications with his surgery, meaning joining his new family was delayed. We would never send a dog home if they weren’t 100% healthy, and thankfully, Lindsey and Paul understood this
Last week, Finn finally got the good news he deserved, and the vet was happy for him to go home with one final check-up in 4 weeks!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Kathy, Paul, Rhonda and Jo. You’ve all been amazing foster parents to Finn throughout his journey and if it wasn’t for you, he wouldn’t be here today ready to live his happy ever after
Finally, please join us in congratulating Lindsey and Paul on welcoming their new boy home! And to Finn, go and live your best life, handsome boy
A little of Finns story below,
Please welcome a poorly entire 5 year old boy who was due to be PTS if no rescue space was found for him!
Finn was another neglected dog found wandering the streets, he is a very loving boy who has been let down massively by those that should have loved him with everything they had.
We want to thank Kathy and Paul for taking Finn in for us. We very much appreciate you coming forward and offering to help this little lad, thank you.
As soon as Kathy and Paul had Finn, they contacted us, and immediately we were alarmed by Finns breathing. Some dogs are stressed when they come into a new environment, and we always keep a very close eye on their breathing for the first 12/24 hours, but Finn was struggling more than we would expect.
Finn had his vet check yesterday and the loss of hair on his body is suspected to be caused by a mite infection, so meds, shampoos and wipes have been prescribed for that. He has mucky ears, so has ear cleaner and drops for those and he is tiny at 21 kilo’s.
He has a large soft lump around his jaw / neck area, and he has cyst inside his mouth and a suspected Ranula which is a cyst caused by a build-up of saliva from a damaged salivary gland. This would account for the large soft lump around his jaw, and this is contributing to his breathing problems.
Finn is going to need BOAS surgery, and the cysts will be investigated and corrected if possible while he is under GA.
Finn started his treatment plan yesterday and already today his breathing is easier which is very encouraging. And once his skin is looking better we will book him in for his surgeries.
So please welcome Finn to his Springboard journey and we are looking forward to seeing his come back to full health and lead a life that was so nearly snatched away.
