A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Dixie is a confident, affectionate bundle of joy who lives to love.
He’s got a playful spark and a heart full of devotion whether he’s bounding toward you for a game or quietly resting his chin on your knee, gazing up with adoration.
This boy thrives in the company of his humans. He’ll keep you entertained with his goofy antics and melt your heart with his gentle loyalty.
Dixie thrives on connection, always ready for cuddles, companionship, or a burst of fun.
With his big personality and even bigger heart, Dixie is ready to be the most lovable, entertaining member of your family.
Behaviour:
Dixie is a joyful boy who adores toys and loves sharing playtime with his humans. He’s happiest when tossing a toy around or engaging in one-on-one games, and he’ll always bring the fun.
While he’s eager to connect, he prefers to keep his toys and food to himself when other dogs are around so all play should be in a calm, controlled setting, either solo or with trusted people.
He’s a clever lad who’ll sit, offer his paw, and move away when asked, but he doesn’t have a reliable “wait” and can be protective of his meals.
To keep things peaceful, Dixie should be fed separately from other pets and given space around food and toys.
Importantly, Dixie has no malice he’s a gentle soul who simply values his treasures. As a precaution, children should never be asked to take toys or food from him. With clear boundaries and loving guidance, Dixie will thrive as a loyal, entertaining companion who truly doesn’t have a bad bone in his body.
Needs:
Dixie is looking for an active, understanding family who can match his energy and nurture his big-hearted personality. He thrives in a home where play, structure, and affection go hand in hand and where his people are committed to ongoing training and clear, consistent boundaries
To set him up for success, Dixie needs:
A secure garden where he can stretch his legs, play, and explore safely
Either a calm female dog companion or a home where he’s the only dog he’s happy either way
Separate feeding and toy time from other pets, with children taught to respect his space around food and toys
A family who understands that guarding isn’t aggression Dixie has no malice, just a strong sense of what’s his
Ongoing training and structure to help him continue building confidence and good habits
With the right guidance and a loving environment, Dixie will be a loyal, entertaining, and deeply affectionate companion. He’s ready to give his whole heart you just need to meet him halfway.
Walk/exercise:
Dixie is an energetic boy who loves his walks and thrives on regular exercise. He starts off with a bit of excitement and may pull on the lead at first, but he soon settles into a steady rhythm. He walks well when walking alongside the resident female bulldog, whose calm presence helps him stay focused and relaxed.
He’s happiest when he’s got space to run off-lead time in a secure area is ideal, especially if there’s a ball or stick to chase. Dixie’s playful nature shines during these moments, and it’s a great way to keep him fit, healthy, and mentally stimulated.
Daily walks and active play are essential to help manage his weight and support his overall wellbeing. He’s shown no issues with other dogs while out and about, making walks a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Toilet trained:
Dixie may have accidents during the initial settling in period, but once he learns his routine and understands what his humans expect of him he is a good boy.
Travel:
Dixie travels very well, he will settle in the boot or backseat. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Dixie family must understand his need for a controlled diet and not be allowed to become overweight.
Dixie requires daily husbandry, and his tail pocket must be cleaned twice daily to prevent infection.
Sometimes Dixie is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Dixie’s foster family:
Affectionate and cute little man that will give years of devoted shadowing.
Dixie’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Dixie’s story,
Please welcome 3 year old Dixie into our Springboard family
Sadly Dixie had had 3 homes by the time he was a year old, but when he found his last owner it was always supposed to be forever and they have enjoyed nearly 3 wonderful years together
However, life throws us lemons and because of a change in circumstances Dixie was no longer able to stay with his owner
The owner has spent many weeks trying to find the right place for Dixie, somewhere where he would be safe with someone who would make sure his beloved boy would always be loved and looked after. So when we were approached, there was only one answer we could give – and it was a YES
At the weekend Dixie was collected for us by Tracey Aroney who has agreed to foster Dixie for us in the North West. Massive thank you to you Tracey, we are very happy to have you on board as a foster, and we hope you will enjoy the experience
Dixie arrived and has been a bit unsettled, but he is bonding with Tracey’s other dog Bella and today has been a bit of a turning point
As you will see Dixie is a bit of a ‘gorgeous chonky’ and this has exacerbated an infection in his tail pocket. He has started a diet, and we are hopeful that he wont need his tail removed and that with weight loss we can keep his tail pocket clean, but we can’t rule out surgery in the future
Dixie will be having his vet check and once he has lost some weight, we will discuss his neuter but for now, he is loving life and enjoying Bella’s company
So please welcome this sweetheart of a dog, who hasn’t done anything wrong but need’s the love and support of our family to start the next part of his journey – welcome Dixie
