Meera – In Foster – South West
CRUELTY WARNING:
The following post contains images of neglect and injury that some may find upsetting
Sometimes it’s hard to understand how humans — the very beings meant to protect and cherish — can inflict such pain on a soul so innocent.
But Meera’s story is also a reminder that for every cruel hand, there are many gentle ones ready to heal, hold, and help her start again
Thanks to the kindness of strangers, rescuers, and volunteers, she’s learning that not all humans hurt — some exist purely to love.
Please read on knowing that Meera is now safe, loved, and beginning her journey to healing
Welcome to the GBSR Family, Meera
Please join us in welcoming sweet #Meera into the loving arms of the Geordie Bullies Springboard Rescue family
Meera is only around 2–3 years old, yet she has already endured more pain and sadness than any soul ever should
Due to the sensitivity of her past, we can’t share all the heartbreaking details of how she came into the care of the council dog warden — but what truly matters is this: Meera is now safe, and from this day forward, she will only know kindness, comfort, and love
When she was found, Meera was living in a tiny crate, starved, neglected, and surrounded by her own waste
A compassionate member of the kennel team took her in, beginning her journey to recovery while searching for a rescue that could offer her a second chance. And when Meera’s story reached us, there was no hesitation — we knew we couldn’t turn away a dog who so desperately needed us
Within just 24 hours of agreeing to take her, our incredible team of volunteers had rallied together to make it happen.
A huge heartfelt thank you to Georgia, Leah, Simon, and Kelly for safely transporting our precious girl from the Midlands to her foster home in the South East
Meera arrived at her foster home with Sarah on Wednesday evening. As expected, she’s frightened and timid — reacting to dogs and people outside, and still having a few accidents indoors. This is all part of her decompression journey, and we know that with patience and love, she’ll start to heal
Yesterday, Meera visited the vets for a full health check, vaccinations, and microchipping. Thankfully, there are no major medical concerns, but she is extremely underweight and bears what appear to be cigarette burns on her legs
