A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Bonnie and Blossom are a beautiful duo with an unbreakable bond. They adore each other deeply and move through the world as a little team, each bringing her own unique charm.

Bonnie is the outgoing, happy soul of the pair. She can be a little anxious when meeting new people and may shake at first, but her curiosity and gentle nature usually win out. As long as she can stay close to someone she trusts, she relaxes quickly and shows her true, joyful self. Bonnie is loving, funny, and full of sass the kind of girl who will flop onto her back across your lap and expect cuddles on demand. She’s a true Velcro dog who loves nothing more than being close to her person.

Blossom is the softer, more sensitive heart of the duo. She’s incredibly loving, but always on her own terms. New people and unfamiliar places can overwhelm her, and she’ll cling tightly to the person she trusts most when she feels unsure. Blossom is a gentle, nervous girl who finds comfort in routine, quiet moments, and the safety of her family. She loves her sleep, adores her food, and blossoms beautifully when she feels secure.

Behaviour:

Bonnie and Blossom may not be the quickest learners, but they make up for it with endless charm. They can both sit beautifully, and we’re working on “paw” and “wait” they try their best, and their cuteness carries them the rest of the way. Bonnie enjoys a little playtime and will happily entertain herself with a toy for a few minutes before deciding cuddles are far more important. Blossom, on the other hand, isn’t interested in toys at all and prefers the quieter things in life.

What they both adore is affection. They LOVE being hugged and snuggled, with Bonnie especially enjoying full‑body fuss and being touched all over. Blossom is more particular she’s happy with gentle ear strokes, but she doesn’t like her feet or face being touched and prefers affection strictly on her own terms.

They are the sweetest girls, full of love and gentle companionship, but they do sleep a lot. Please don’t expect puppy‑like energy (though the occasional mess might still appear). These gorgeous ladies simply want the basics: good food, a cosy bed, and someone who will love them for exactly who they are. In return, they offer warmth, affection, and the softest presence you could hope to share your home with.

Needs:

True to their companion‑breed nature, they thrive when they’re included in everyday life and would suit a family where someone is home for most of the day to offer them comfort, reassurance, and routine.

Bonnie and Blossom are looking for a calm, peaceful home where they can enjoy the quieter side of life together. Bonnie would love someone who can share little moments of play with her, while Blossom dreams of a cosy person to snuggle up beside.

Their new family will need to continue supporting their training, especially with their potty training, and help them build confidence at their own pace. They can live with other dogs, but any resident dogs must be gentle, accepting, and happy to welcome two new girls into the home. A secure garden is essential a safe space where they can potter, relax, and enjoy the fresh air together.

Bonnie and Blossom are tender, loving girls who simply need a patient, understanding home ready to give them the steady, nurturing life they deserve.

Walk/exercise:

Bonnie and Blossom both need gentle, steady walks that match their calm nature. Bonnie absolutely loves her outings. She enjoys taking her time, sniffing everything around her, and happily trotting along with other dogs as if she’s leading the little pack.

Blossom is much more hesitant. She’ll often try to hide when she sees her coat or harness come out, unsure about the idea of going out at all. But once she’s outside and moving, she walks beautifully, staying close to your side for reassurance and comfort. She simply needs patience, gentle encouragement, and the safety of her trusted person nearby.

Together, they’re a sweet pair who benefit from calm, unhurried walks that let Bonnie explore and Blossom feel secure.

Toilet trained:

The girls are a working progress, unfortunately as sign of their previous life.

They are getting better during the day but need a good routine in place, and can have accidents during the night.

Travel:

Bonnie and Blossom can manage short car journeys, but they are both quite anxious travellers. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 2 hours from their current location.

The girls settle better with comfort and reassurance, someone sitting with them to give them the gentle support they need.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Bonnie and Blossom’s forever family must be prepared to understand and support their ongoing health needs. Due to poor breeding, the girls haven’t developed as they should, and this may lead to health issues throughout their lives. Any future care they require will be the responsibility of their new family, and it’s important that adopters are fully committed to providing whatever they may need.

Blossom has recently undergone BOAS surgery and has specific feeding requirements to help her breathe and eat comfortably.

Bonnie and Blossom will be going home on a “to be spayed” contract they will be recalled at 18months and spayed.

Bonnie will undergo cherry eye repair during her spay.

All costs covered by the charity we will request that this is done at their current vets in Nottingham.

It’s also essential that children in the home understand that Bonnie and Blossom will need time, patience, and gentle handling as they settle in. They must have a quiet space where they can rest peacefully and remain undisturbed.

These girls are incredibly loving and deserving, and the right family will embrace their needs with open hearts and steady hands.

Additional information from Bonnie & Blossom’s foster family:

These girls are the sweetest angel’s and we’ve loved caring for them and seeing them, pardon the pun, blossom. They’ve settled in so well, they are tiny little girls that have big hearts and just want love.

The girl’s adoption donation fee is £1000 and will need to be paid in full prior to them going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Bonnie’s and Blossom’s story,

No matter how many dogs we rescue, it never gets easier… we’re so sorry for the information you’re about to read.

Today, we share the heart breaking story of two little girls — nameless, forgotten, and left to suffer in silence.

On Tuesday, we were contacted by a dog warden on behalf of the RSPCA about two young girls who had been cast aside like rubbish, left to rot in their cage. We can’t begin to imagine the fear, confusion, and pain they must have felt. But thankfully, help came… and they were found.

We’ve included a photo of the crate in which they were discovered. Heavy rain and severe weather warnings had been issued at the time they were found — shivering, soaked in rain, and covered in urine and faeces, terrified for their lives.

What was done to them was not human — because true humanity means kindness, compassion, and care. This was none of those things. This was cruelty. Pure neglect. And what hurts the most is knowing that this isn’t the first time… and sadly, it won’t be the last.

Both girls arrived in a heartbreaking state, as you can imagine. Their nails were so overgrown they’d curled, and the smell was overwhelming.

You can tell them apart by their size and their adorable ears — Bonnie is the larger of the two, with straight, pointy ears, while tiny Blossom has the sweetest floppy ones. Without a vet’s assessment, it’s hard to determine their ages, and sadly, neither has been microchipped

Bonnie is severely underweight and suffering from cherry eye. Blossom is also emaciated and struggling with one of her legs — she can’t stand or sit properly. This will need further investigation at the vets, possibly with X-rays, as there could be several underlying causes. After everything they’ve endured, we’re committed to ensuring no issue goes untreated.

Both girls are not yet house trained, so we’re working with puppy pads and basic training. They arrived on Friday evening and had a wonderfully settled first night — they must have been utterly exhausted. They slept warm and safe in brand-new beds with fluffy blankets.

Both will be booked in to the vets as soon as possible for full health checks and treatment plans

But now, their story changes.

We’ve promised these girls a new beginning — one filled with warmth, gentle hands, and love that heals. With patience, kindness, and care, we’ll help them find their sparkle again.

Please join us in welcoming Blossom and Bonnie into our GBSR family.
You’re safe now, sweet girls. You will never, ever be left alone again.

We want to thank everyone who helped these little girls so far — Adam and Sarah for collecting them from the dog warden, Angela for meeting and assisting with the mid-journey transfer, and of course, Wanda and Steve for completing the last leg of their journey.

We’d also like to welcome Sophie back to GBSR — a devoted volunteer and loving adopter of our precious Banoffee, who sadly passed this year. Sophie, your heart for this breed shines so bright, and we know you’ll help Blossom and Bonnie learn to trust again.

These two little souls have a long road ahead. They won’t be available for adoption until they’re fully assessed and ready. But for now, they have safety, love, and a whole community behind them.

Please keep following their journey — it will be one of courage, hope, and healing.
