A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Albert has an affectionate and playful nature, but he will start off very reserved and it will take him a little time for him to come out of his shell, but he soon warms up to people.

Once you have earned his trust Alberts charisma will shine through, he will initiate play with toys and seek affection from his people, especially children.

Behaviour:

Albert is head shy with new people initially, but he will soon settle into his new environment and routines, Albert is a person-centred boy.

He has done extremely well learning his basic commands Sit, paw, wait, stay.

Albert can snatch toys on occasion so training will need to be continued.

Albert loves a good zoomie, he is playful and funny and will interact with all of his family or happily play with his toys himself.

Needs:

Albert needs a calm but active family home, one able to give him time and support as his confidence grows.

A garden is a must as he loves to play fetch and needs space for his zoomies.

Albert needs to be an only dog in the home, as he doesn’t like to share his space or toys with other dogs.

Walk/exercise:

Albert loves his walks he currently has 20-30 min walks 2 times per day.

He may pull at first but soon settles and walks to heel, this will need ongoing training as his confidence builds with his new family.

Albert will interact with dogs his size or smaller on walks. But can be anxious of larger dogs and will do what he can to avoid interaction.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Albert is a very good boy.

Travel:

Albert can be anxious when travelling but appears to settle well as long as he can see you and you can reassure him. We wouldn’t recommend him travelling in the boot as he can become distressed. This may change over time as he gets used to travelling more.

We will accept applications of up to 2 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Albert has had cherry eye repocketing this continues to heal well.

Albert is anxious of sudden loud noises; he will hide away from hoovers and any over excitable young children.

Sometimes Albert is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Albert is a beautifully natured young boy, who will grow and adapt to his new life well. Albert is the type of bulldog that the more you are willing and able to put in you will get back 10 x over. Any family will be incredibly lucky to call him there own.

Albert’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Albert’s story below,

Albert in foster – South West

Let’s welcome the very handsome Albert into the care of our Springboard family.

Albert is a 16-month entire boy who has been owned and loved since a puppy with his sibling (Arthur) who is also coming into our care.

Albert’s owner has a 3-month-old baby who is becoming very allergic to the dogs, so she has reached out to us for help, and we have agreed to keep them safe and take them into foster.

Thank you to Bettsy O’Connor who kindly collected Albert for us this weekend.

Albert has been introduced to Bettsy’s resident dog Layla, and after an initial uncertainness, they appear to be accepting each other, and as with all our foster dogs, we encourage slow introductions to  allow the new dog time to decompress, and already they have joined forces to have a ‘bark up’ at some noises today.

Albert has a huge protruding cherry eye gland that needs sorting, and he needs to be neutered in due course so he will be assessed at the vets this week and booked in ASAP.

So please join us in welcoming Albert to a new chapter in his life and if you would like to follow this young boys foster journey with us, then join our community group for more updates about him.
