A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Alvin is a lovely boy who is initially nervous and timid, but with time and patience he soon comes out of his shell and makes a fabulous companion.
Alvin will actively seek out his humans for affection, he loves a good cuddle and enjoys being stroked all over.
Alvin has grown in confidence with other dogs and will happily initiate play with the resident dog.
Alvin is a bright and eager young bulldog who is always willing to learn and please his people.
Behaviour:
Alvin has made a great start with his basic training, already mastering “sit” and beginning to learn “paw” and “wait.” Continuing this training in his new home will be important for his development and will help build a strong and trusting relationship with his new family.
Alvin is sensitive to sudden loud noises and is particularly frightened of the hoover, often choosing to run and hide when he hears it.
Alvin loves all kinds of rough play and being a young boy, he can sometimes be a little mouthy. Ongoing training will help him to learn appropriate boundaries and when to stop.
Needs:
Alvin would thrive in a calm but active home where he can be fully involved in daily family life.
A secure garden is essential, giving him space to play, explore and burn off energy.
Alvin would benefit from a calm and laid-back female dog in the home, someone to play with during the day and snuggle with at night.
Alvin needs a family who understands that with time, patience and consistency, he will give back tenfold.
Walk/exercise:
Alvin walks beautifully on the lead and is just as happy walking alone as well as with other dogs.
Alvin has good recall and tends to stay close, rarely straying far from your side.
Alvin shows no signs of reactivity towards other dogs while out and about.
Alvin interacts will with dogs he meets on walks, showing an excitable but sociable nature
Toilet trained:
Yes,Alvin is a good boy
Travel:
Alvin travels well, because of this we would consider homes up to 4 hours away from his location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Alvin has shown dominant behaviour towards the male dogs in his foster home, so he will only be rehomed with non-entire female dogs.
As Alvin is still too young to be neutered, he will be rehomed on a to be neutered contract and will be recalled at 18 months old. The procedure will be carried out at a vet of the charity’s choosing, and the cost of a standard neuter will be covered by the charity.
Sometimes Alvin is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as has he the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Alvin’s foster:
He’s the most loving bestest boy, I adore him. He’s the greatest companion; he doesn’t like to stray too far from you. He loves to please; he likes to sit in the sun but the moment he hears you move he’s desperate to see what you’re doing! He’ll be a fantastic dog for someone who works from home, he desperately wants company too. He’s really confided in Mia.
Alvin’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.
**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. And the admin team are available for advice and support for the whole of that dog’s lifetime via Messenger, therefore the successful applicant will need to have an active Facebook and Messenger account for the life of the dog. If you cannot agree to this, please don’t apply**

Alvin
Please welcome 1 year old Alvin into our Springboard family.
Alvin is another ‘cast aside’ dog who was found on the streets and taken to the pound
After his 7 days were up, we were contacted about this boy and luckily we had a foster very close to him in the Midlands who was able to collect him
We want to thank Kate for offering to foster this tiny little boy for us, we are very grateful to you for opening your home for this sweet little boy.. thank you
Alvin has met Kate’s pack and all seems to be going very well. He had been stressed by the barking in the kennels, so he has taken no time relaxing back into life in a home that’s calm and with some furbuddies for company.
Alvin will have his vet check in due course, and we will discuss his neuter, he could do with just a little bit more weight but other than that he seems to be in good health
So, welcome to your Springboard family Alvin and we are looking forward to seeing your journey with us
