Baxter – Ready for Adoption! – Wales

Dogs name: Baxter

Age: 2 years old.

Current location: Glan Conwy, Wales.

I CAN LIVE WITH

Children: Yes, 13+ Dog savvy children.

Cats: No.

Dogs: Calm and laid-back spayed females only.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Baxter is an independent gentleman, with a playful and cheeky nature.

Baxter isn’t an overly affectionate boy but does like to be at the side of his humans and will seek them out for company.

Baxter is an active boy that adores the outdoors and is aways ready for an adventure.

Behaviour:

Baxter is a sensitive boy, that absorbs his environment and can be over stimulated easily.

He is overly excitable around younger children and can jump at them. However, he isn’t a malicious boy, just no concept of how delicate children can be.

Baxter will interact with other dogs in the home, but he does like to be in charge and can be food and toy possessive.

Baxter does have some resource guarding behaviours and doesn’t like to give up things he shouldn’t have.

Baxter is a very well-behaved boy and understands his commands.

Needs.

Baxter needs a calm but family environment with a family who can implement boundaries and continue his training and help him reach his full potential.

An active family who enjoys the outdoors.

Older 13+ children.

Baxter can live with a calm female resident dog, with no guarding behaviours.

A garden is a must as Baxter lives for the outdoors.

Walk/exercise:

Baxter loves his walks; Baxter walks very well with no pulling, but he does like to lead at the front, and he follows commands.

Baxter walks well both in company and alone and loves to meet new people along the way.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Baxter is a good boy.

Travel:

Baxter can be excitable when beginning a car journey, but he will soon settle down and enjoy the ride.

Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Baxter does have resource guarding behaviours, and can air snap, because of this Baxter will not be rehomed with young children in the home.

He is a big boy and has the potential to jump and knock children over, so visiting children must be supervised.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Baxter’s foster family:

Handsome and well-behaved boy…. Will listen which is unusual for bulldogs, and you’ll have no choice but to fall in love with him immediately. He’s a pleasure to walk on the lead and gets so excited to going out with you. He just wants to be the number 1 male in your life. With patience and time his affection will continue grow.

Baxter’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. And the admin team are available for advice and support for the whole of that dog’s lifetime via Messenger, therefore the successful applicant will need to have an active Facebook and Messenger account for the life of the dog. A little of Baxter’s story below,

Baxter

Its been a busy few days with dogs coming in so please welcome no.4 and that’s the very sweet Baxter

Baxter us 2 years old and is another stray who was picked up and placed in kennels waiting to be claimed …but no-one came for him so now he is part of our Springboard family

Baxter is in foster with Jadey Jones and her EB Denver. We want to thank Jadey very much for collecting Baxter for us and for offering to foster him thank you, we are very grateful

As we always advise, Baxter is having slow introductions with Jadey’s dog, Denver. Jadey is walking them together with no problem and keeping them separated indoors so they can be safely in the same space
With patience, we are hopeful it wont be long before they are best buddies

Baxter was smelly so Jadey has bathed him & he was such a good boy being cleaned, he loved it

He is skinny and has a touch of colitis as well which we will keep an eye one. He will be seeing the vet next week and once we know he is healthy, he will be booked in for his neuter.

So lets welcome this little boy onto his Springboard journey and we are looking forward to seeing you healthy and happy and on your way to a new life
