A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Bear isn’t a big cuddler, but he absolutely enjoys affection in his own special way. When I come home, he races to greet his foster family in the hallway, tail going and full of excitement, ready for their little reunion ritual.
He loves a good fuss and melts for scratches along his sides, on his chest, and gentle strokes over his head. He even loves kisses on his whole face, and if you stop too soon, he’ll lift a paw to ask for just a bit more.
He’s excitable, a little stubborn, and full of character, but he shows real affection and thrives on being made a fuss of. As the weeks have passed, he’s opened up more and more, becoming increasingly affectionate as he’s learned to trust and feel safe.
Behaviour:
Bear is very much a work in progress, but a rewarding one.
Bear also has some behaviours that need understanding and continued training.
He is very possessive over toys and will guard he is vocal and will air snap at anyone who tries to take anything he considers his, so he needs an adopter who can work with him safely and consistently.
He’s a strong boy who plays rough and is not suitable for homes with young children.
He isn’t fearful, but he does seem unsure about the dark.
Bear hasn’t had many boundaries in his life, and he doesn’t like being physically moved or being told “no,” so he’ll need patient guidance to learn structure and expectations.
Needs:
Bear has the most incredible potential, and he’s already come so far during his time in foster. He’s a bright, loving boy who will truly thrive with a family prepared to put in the time, patience, and consistency he needs.
Because of his rough-and-tumble play style and his possessive behaviours, Bear is best suited to a teen‑aged or adult‑only home where everyone can confidently support his training.
He’ll need to be the only dog in the home so he can feel secure and avoid any conflict over toys or resources.
A garden is essential for him—he loves to play, explore, and burn off energy in a safe space. Bear will flourish with clear rules, firm but fair boundaries, and ongoing training. In the right home, he will continue to grow into the brilliant, affectionate companion he’s already showing he can be.
Walk/exercise:
Bear really enjoys his walks, even if he isn’t always the first to rush out the door.
Once he’s outside, he settles into it beautifully and genuinely loves the chance to explore. Daily walks are important for him—not just for exercise, but as part of his training routine and to help him release all that built‑up energy in a positive way.
He absolutely loved the recent bulldog walk and got along brilliantly with all the other dogs, happily joining in and taking everything in his stride. When he spots another dog on a walk, he’s always keen to make friends.
Daily, structured exercise will help him thrive both physically and mentally, and it’s a lovely way to bring out his best self.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Bear is a good boy. He may initially have the odd accident as he settles into new routines.
Travel:
Bear enjoys a car ride and will settle down whether on a seat or the boot. Because od this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Allergies managed by food he must continue on his hypoallergenic diet.
Bear will need a regular husbandry routine, paying particular attention to his nose rope and his neck area which can get red and inflamed.
Sometimes Bear is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children visiting the home must be supervised, as he is a humper and has the potential to snatch, jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Bear’s foster family:
Captain Handsome is a playful, boisterous blue-eyed boy who needs an understanding family with time to get to know his personality. He doesn’t like to share his toys but this beautiful boy loves a fuss and affection and will reward your patience with love and companionship.
Bear’s adoption donation fee is £400 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Bears story.
Please join us in welcoming #Bear into the arms of our Springboard family
Bear came to us after his previous owner, facing housing difficulties, could no longer give him the life he deserved. He had been spending long days confined to a small kitchen on his own — far from the comfort, companionship, and enrichment every dog needs
When we were contacted for help, of course we said yes
On Sunday, Bear began his journey to the North East. Mike and then Claire helped transport him, where he was finally met by Colin, his foster carer, and brought safely home. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved for ensuring Bear reached his foster family with love and care
Now settled in the North East with Alison and Colin, Bear has officially started his new chapter — one filled with reassurance, attention, and affection
His coat is in poor condition with a noticeable yeast build-up, so a soothing bath is on the agenda, and he’ll be visiting the vet soon for a full health check to ensure nothing has been overlooked
Over the weekend, Bear has already begun to relax and adjust to foster life. We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Alison and Colin for opening their home to Bear when he needed someone most
This boy has just arrived in foster, and he is now beginning his assessment period. At this stage, we don’t yet know what type of home he will need.
No pre-interests
No early applications
Once assessments are complete (approx. 4–6 weeks), we will post his full adoption profile
