Belle – Rainbow Bridge
🌈 OUR BEAUTIFUL BELLE 🌈
We have the most heartbreaking news to share—our beautiful Belle didn’t make it.
She fought and she fought, and we were right there beside her every step of the way along with her foster family. Sadly, throughout this weekend, both ourselves and the veterinary team realised that no treatment was bringing Belle even a moment of relief, and she continued to deteriorate.
Then came the devastating news that Belle’s results had confirmed cancer. Her little body was overwhelmed by oedema, and she was simply too tired and too poorly to keep fighting.
We know how many of you have been waiting and worrying for an update on Belle. Thank you for your patience while we focused on her care, supported Hazel and tried to find the strength to share this heartbreaking news.
Her wonderful foster mum, Hazel, was beside her when she passed. Belle left this world surrounded by love, warmth and light—the very things she deserved to have known throughout her life.
Tonight, we ask you to light a candle for our beautiful girl. Together, let’s create a pathway of light to guide Belle safely over the Rainbow Bridge, where all the other GBSR dogs will be waiting to welcome her—a place where she can run, play and, finally, breathe freely.
Please also hold Hazel and her family in your thoughts. They loved Belle so deeply and gave her the safety, kindness and comfort she had always deserved.
Her foster mum has shared these beautiful words:
“Beautiful Belle You stole our hearts from the moment we met you. We know our time together was short, but during that time we grew to love you so much, and we wish we still had you here with us. We loved watching you flourish and begin playing with your toys, enjoying your walks and outdoor adventures.
You adored being tucked up in your bed with your blanket, waiting for cuddles and belly rubs. We only wish our paths had crossed sooner so that we could have had more time together. You were such a beautiful and gentle soul, with so much love to give. We love you, Belle. Your forever family.
Thank you to all of Belle’s supporters—to everyone who donated, shared her story and sent good wishes. The GBSR community is very special.
Thank you to GBSR for being there when Belle needed you the most, for standing by her when things became tough and when others had simply washed their hands of her. You did absolutely everything you could to save Belle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. x”
Belle, you fought with everything you had. Now it is time to rest, free from pain and surrounded forever by love.
Run free, beautiful girl. You mattered, you were loved, and you will never be forgotten.
Forever GBSR.
Belle’s story
Please join us in welcoming another precious soul into the GBSR family… beautiful Belle
Belle is a lovely three-year-old girl who has sadly been passed from pillar to post, including through the hands of people and so-called rescues who have failed to give her the care and stability she deserves.
Unsurprisingly, Belle is now suffering from anxiety. We can’t blame her—she hasn’t known what it feels like to be truly safe and settled for far too long. Thankfully, that all changes now. Belle is safe with GBSR, and we’ll give her all the time, patience and love she needs.
Belle was collected over the weekend by our wonderful volunteer Laura, who cared for her overnight before transporting her to her long-term foster home with Hazel in the South East.
A huge thank you to Laura for stepping in so quickly, and to Hazel for welcoming Belle into her home. This is Hazel’s first foster journey, and what an adorable little girl to begin it with! We appreciate you both so much.
Poor Belle arrived with fleas, double cherry eye and some redness and irritation on her legs. She has now been bathed and treated for the fleas, so we’re hopeful she’ll soon begin to feel more comfortable. We’ll get her to the vets as soon as possible to have her eyes and skin assessed and ensure she receives all the treatment she needs.
For now, Belle needs time to decompress, settle and learn that she is finally safe. Welcome to the family, beautiful girl—we’ve got you now.
Please note: Belle has only just arrived in foster care and has not yet completed her assessment. She is not currently available for adoption, so please do not submit an application for her at this stage.
Welcome to the Springboard Family, Belle.
For now, please join us in welcoming this beautiful little lady to the Geordie Bullies family and wishing her the very best as she begins this new chapter.
