A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Bert is a very well behaved and playful boy; he is affectionate with the biggest amount of love to give.
Bert loves nothing more than a snuggle and a snooze, and in typical bulldog fashion he loves his food.
Bert is an active bulldog who loves to explore on walks
Bert loves being cleaned and looks forward to this every day, He allows you to clean his ears and get right into them too. When cleaning his nose rope, he just closes his eye and purrs like a cat, he never wants you to stop.
Behaviour:
Bert has the sweetest nature and is very good at following commands, his recall is fantastic.
Bert is an active and playful bulldog who knows his boundaries and respects them.
Bert doesn’t have a bad bone in his body and isn’t aggressive in anyway, his humans are able to take food away without any concerns.
Bert doesn’t really play with toys; he can take them or leave them.
Bert is fine with rough play; on the odd occasion he will mouth as he gets excited but will stop when told.
Needs:
Bert would suit an active family who can involve him in everything that is family daily life
Bert would benefit from having a laid-back dog with similarly playful nature for company, no entire males or females
Any dogs in the home must not have any resource guarding behaviours.
A garden to play in is a must for Bert as he likes to spend his day exploring
Walk/exercise:
Bert loves his walks and walks lovely with no issues; he is happy to walk alone and with company.
Bert will happily go up to other dogs to say hello and for a quick sniff and shows no signs of aggression to other dogs.
Bert can get a bit excitable when having his harness put on but is happy do have it on.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Bert is a good boy.
Travel:
Bert is a passenger king, He loves being in the car and will lay down and go to sleep, because of this we will consider applications up to 4 hours away
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Bert is an amazing young boy who will make the most wonderful addition to any family. He is well rounded and will suit many different home environments.
Sometimes Bert is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as Bert has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information:
Bert is an absolutely fantastic bulldog, not stubborn shy or moody he loves life.
Bert likes his walks but equally loves cuddles and lots of them
Bert enjoys taking himself off to have lots of snoozes and is fine with being left even though he wants to block the front door, so you take him with you.
Bert’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Bert’s story below,
Welcome to the GBSR family, Bert!
We are overjoyed to introduce Bert, a 3-year-old male with the sweetest nature you could imagine. His journey to us was filled with urgency and compassion.
We received a heartfelt plea from a lady desperate to save Bert and another dog from the council kennel. Unfortunately, they have had a virus outbreak that had tragically claimed the lives of other dogs. They had contacted the previous owner, did not want them back. It was a race against time to bring Bert into our care and ensure his safety.
Finding a dog-free foster home was a challenge, as we couldn’t risk spreading the virus to other dogs. But we knew we had to act swiftly to protect Bert from the outbreak.
A huge thank you to Laura Scott, whose incredible kindness and dedication made it possible to rescue Bert. Laura, you went above and beyond, collecting him late at night and ensuring his safe transport to his foster family, Toni Boxall, in the South East.
Bert is now settling in wonderfully and, so far, shows no signs of illness. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we got him out just in time. He is such a sweet-natured boy, and we can’t fathom how he ended up in a council pound.
Thank you, Laura and Toni, for your unwavering support and love. Bert is now safe and loved, and we are so grateful to have him as part of our GBSR family.
