A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Beryl is a gentle, affectionate dog with a calm and loving nature. She consistently behaves well and interacts kindly with the people caring for her. She forms strong bonds and responds positively to attention and companionship. Beryl would make a wonderful addition to a household, and any future adopter will gain a loyal, sweet companion. She is well‑suited to a caring family who can offer her the stable, loving home she deserves.

Behaviour:

Beryl is a bright little learner who responds beautifully to gentle guidance and a bit of kibble motivation. She’s already picking up cues like sit, paw, and wait, and she enjoys the chance to show off her progress.

She has a playful side and loves her toys, sometimes gathering them all up for herself. If another dog shows interest in the same toy, she may take it to her crate for safekeeping, and she can give a small growl to let them know she wants space. Tug‑of‑war is one of her favourite games, and she engages with lots of enthusiasm.

Beryl thrives on company and prefers not to be left alone for long periods. Once she’s tucked into bed, she settles and sleeps independently, but when she first arrived, she needed a bit of reassurance during the night to feel safe and understand she wasn’t on her own. With consistency and comfort, she adjusts well and builds trust quickly.

Needs:

Beryl thrives in a calm, steady home where she isn’t left alone for long periods. She feels most secure with company and would benefit from living alongside a laid‑back dog who is comfortable welcoming a new companion and shows no resource‑guarding behaviours.

Beryl will not be rehomed with entire dogs.

Her crate is an important source of comfort and security, and having access to one helps her settle and relax. A garden is essential, giving her a safe space to explore and enjoy some outdoor time.

Although Beryl is naturally gentle, she was found as a stray, so a home with children aged 8 and over would be the best fit for her. With the right environment, she will continue to grow in confidence and flourish beautifully.

Beryl will need regular bulldog husbandry routine, taken care of her folds, nose rope, tail pocket and under carriage.

Walk/exercise:

Beryl absolutely loves her walks. She’s comfortable strolling in a little pack and is just as happy heading out on her own. When she meets unfamiliar dogs, she tends to stay calm and keep to herself, but she’s always delighted to soak up attention from any friendly humans she meets along the way.

She has a wonderfully playful side, often joining in with zoomies and happily chasing after a ball. Her enthusiasm outdoors is matched by her gentle nature, making her a lovely companion for both relaxed walks and fun, energetic playtime.

Toilet trained:

Beryl is a very good girl and will indicate when she needs the toilet. She can have the odd accident at night.

Travel:

Beryl is a very good traveller and settles in straight away. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Beryl may require dental work in the future, and this will be an important responsibility for her adoptive family to plan for as part of her ongoing care.

She has a grade 1 luxating patella, which does not require surgery, but it does mean she will need a little extra mindfulness in her daily routine. Keeping her at a healthy weight is essential, as this helps prevent unnecessary strain on her joints. Her family will also need to ensure she isn’t jumping on and off furniture or running up and down stairs, as these activities could worsen the condition over time.

With thoughtful management and a home that understands her needs, Beryl can stay comfortable, active, and happy. She simply needs a family who will look out for her and give her the gentle care she deserves.

Sometimes Beryl is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Beryl’s foster family:

I can’t say enough about this gorgeous sweet affectionate girl. She’s been good as gold and been a pleasure to care for and come to know. I’ll be so sad to say goodbye but know I’ve made a little friend for life. Anyone who adopts her will be truly lucky to get to spend forever with her. She deserves the best and i hope she finds a wonderful family.

Beryl’s adoption donation fee is £400 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Beryl’s story,

Please join us in welcoming beautiful #Beryl to our Geordie Bullies family

Beryl’s story begins with heartbreak. She was found wandering the streets completely alone, with no one to keep her safe, until a kind human stopped and changed her world. What she had endured before that moment, we may never know.

The following day, Beryl was taken to the local kennels in the hope that someone would come forward to claim her. Sadly, no one did. Her microchip was out of date, and it became clear that Beryl had no one waiting for her. That’s when we were asked if we could step in and give this precious girl the chance she so desperately deserved.

On Thursday, Beryl began her new chapter when she was collected by her foster mum, Jessica. Despite everything she has been through, Beryl has already shown us just how gentle and loving she is. Her first night was understandably unsettling, but day by day she is finding her paws, learning that she is finally safe, and even making friends with her foster brother, Stanley

Because Beryl was a stray, we don’t know her health history, but we believe she is around 6 years old. After a thorough check over by Jessica, it is clear that Beryl has extremely poor dental health with some teeth beinf rotten and cloudy eyes potentially caused by existing, untreated ulcers

Beryl will be seeing the vets next week for a full health check. For now, our hearts are focused on helping her heal, rest, and gain some much-needed weight. At just 14kg, she is heartbreakingly underweight

We can’t thank Jessica and her family enough for opening their hearts and home to Beryl when she needed it most. Your kindness has already changed her life

To Beryl — you are safe now. You are loved. And you will never have to face another cold night alone again
