A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Betsy is the epitome of a companion dog.

Betsy’s gentle and affectionate nature will have her seeking her person out for all the attention and affection they will give.

Betsy may start of reserved and quiet, but she soon settles into her environment and her beautiful nature develops with a little patience and reassurance.

Behaviour:

Betsy is slowly coming out of her shell and learning to play toys and her foster family. This will continue to thrive with gentle reassurance from her family.

Betsy loves a bit of rough play with her humans and will stop when instructed to.

Betsy is very gentle around children of all ages.

Needs:

Betsy prefers her humans to herself and doesn’t like to share her space with other dogs.

Betsy would benefit from a home that balances activity and relaxation, somewhere she can have her snuggles and downtime while also enjoying play and bursts of energy with walks.

A family who can put in the time with her training to ensure she reaches her incredible potential.

A garden is a must for Betsy to play and explore in.

Walk/exercise:

Betsy loves her walks and loves all the attention she gets from people.

Betsy walks very well on the lead, and doesn’t pull.

Betsy isn’t keen to meet other dogs when on a walk, she will bark at them so will need ongoing training to help her with this.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Betsy is a good girl.

Travel:

Betsy is a great traveller, because of this we will consider homes up to 4 hours away

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Betsy will be adopted on a “to be spayed” contract. We will recall Betsy at the end of May 2025 to be spayed at a vets of the charities agreement, costs covered by the charity.

Betsy came into foster with breathing concerns, due to obesity and lack of exercise. This has been managed by a strict controlled diet and good exercise routine to increase her stamina slowly.

Potentially Betsy may need BOAS surgery in the future, and this would be the responsibility of her forever family, should they not be able to continue to manage it through lifestyle.

Sometimes Betsy is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Betsy’s foster dad:

Betsy is such a loving dog. She was so shy when I first picked her up and anxious having been passed around not knowing who to trust. After a couple of days of getting to know you she starts to come out of her shell and really becomes massively loving as every minute passes.

She has the best temperament and has been so well behaved in the house, not one accident or incident. She loves her walks throughout the day, short and often. So nice to see her get excited and see what a dog’s life really should be like now. I’ll be really sorry for Betsy to leave, seen such amazing progress with her. Her best bits are how excited and trusting and playful she is when she gets to know you. Such an amazing little lady.

Betsy’s adoption donation fee is £400 and will need to be paid in full prior to Her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Betsy’s story below,

Betsy

Please welcome Betsy into our Springboard family

5-year-old Betsy is a sad surrender so no judgement please.

Sadly, her original owner lost interest in her, so a family member took her on. But their home circumstances have changed, and Betsy was having no life, so the new owner reached out to see if we would take her

Thank you to Michelle and Mark for offering to foster Betsy for us and for collecting her earlier this week. We really appreciate you opening your home for this ‘little love in need’

Betsy is a bit of a ‘heart stealer’ and  she has taken the changes in her stride by ‘sleeping’ interjected with walks, food and more sleeping ..!!! oh and belly rubs which she adores

Betsy will have her vet check next week and we will then arrange to have her spayed.

So welcome beautiful Betsy, we think you are going to be a very popular girl with our followers
Enjoy your Springboard journey with us, and we are looking forward to seeing you flourish and join your forever family in the future
