A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Biggy is a larger-than-life character with a playful and outgoing nature.

Biggy loves his humans and will happily initiate when it’s time to play.

In typical bulldog fashion Biggy loves a good nap, he knows how to unwind and recharge.

Biggy is the kind of boy who will thrive when kept busy, he is intelligent and will respond well to his human building a relationship and bond through training.

Behaviour:

Biggy can become overstimulated by rough play both with his humans and other dogs in the home, so we wouldn’t encourage it. He will stop when told.

Biggy knows his basic commands but suffers from typical bulldog deaf ear when over excited.

Biggy is cheeky and will tell you when he wants attention, he can become very vocal and will engage in conversation with you.

Biggy is gentle with children and boisterous at times with adults.

Biggy’s larger than life character can be too much for some dogs in the home.

Needs:

Biggy needs calm but active family who understands the breed.

Biggy is high energy, and this will need to be managed in the right way, his family must be committed to putting in the time with his training and setting firm boundaries for him.

Biggy is a fantastic boy that you can mould into your dream dog, he needs a patient family who can see his incredible potential and have the time to put in that he deserves.

A garden to play and exercise in is a must for Biggy.

Biggy could thrive as an only dog or live with a calm and patient female.

Walk/exercise

Biggy loves his walks; he walks great with company or alone.

Biggy likes to be on the go and exploring the environment. He can be excitable when approached by unfamiliar dogs, this may be too much to other breeds, but he holds no malice.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Biggy is a good boy.

Travel:

Biggy is a great traveller, because of this we would consider a home up to 4 hours away

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Biggy is currently on Nutracalm to help with his anxiety. However once he settles and adjusts to new routines this is something he can be weaned off.

Biggy can be anxious as he settles and that comes with humping. Once he feels safe that will stop.

Biggy has elbow dysplasia and will need stay on his current medication. This is degenerative and will lead to arthritis in time. However, this doesn’t stop him from living a full and happy life.

We would recommend hydrotherapy, it is a great tool to use as training, keeping him exercising whilst not putting to much impact on his elbow joint. It’s a great way to build a trusting relationship with your dog.

Sometimes Biggy is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Biggy is outgoing, lively and loving. He loves company and would make a wonderful addition to a family home where he can make lots of memories and go on lots of adventures.

Biggy will thrive and work hard to please his humans, all he asks is you adore him in return.

Biggy’s adoption donation fee is £400 and will need to be paid in full prior to going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Biggy’s story below,

Biggy In Foster

Please welcome Biggy into our Springboard family

Biggy is a six-year-old unneutered boy who was very sadly found as a stray.

He was taken to Appledown kennels to see if anyone came forward to claim him, but sadly, after his 7-day hold, nobody did.

We have a relationship with Appledown Kennels, and they reached out to see if we had space to take him.

So foster Adam Bowley made arrangements to collect Biggy for us, but Biggy had contracted Kennel Cough so sadly that meant another week in the kennels until he was free from it.

The call came that Biggy was fit for collection, so on Sunday Biggy was collected by Adam.

Biggy is in foster with Adam and Sarah Bowley and their pack Honey, Yogi and GBSR girl Bella in the Midlands.

Coming into an established pack can be overwhelming and Adam is taking things slowly BUT his pack are very well used to new dogs coming in, so we are sure it won’t be long until Biggy feels settled.

Biggy will have a full health check by our vet and will need neutering while in our care.

This gorgeous boy will now have a period of assessment prior to finding his perfect furever home

So, Biggy, you handsome boy, you are safe and loved, and your GBSR journey starts right here!!
