A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Buster is a gentle‑natured soul who has slowly come alive during his time in GBSR care, revealing the sweetest, softest personality as he’s healed and learned to trust. He thrived in a quiet environment while recovering from surgery, and now he’s adjusted beautifully to the gentle buzz of a young family home, taking comfort in the love and routine around him.

One of his newest (and most adorable) hobbies is sneaking off with Barbies and toys so he can join in with the family fun — a little glimpse of the playful, cheeky boy he’s becoming. Buster adores his humans of all ages and is happiest right by your side, soaking up every cuddle, stroke, and kiss you’re willing to give. Physical affection is his love language, and he leans into it with his whole heart.

Buster is a calm, loving companion who simply wants to belong, to be close, and to share in the everyday moments that make a family feel like home.

Behaviour:

Buster is a wonderfully calm, content boy who’s happiest spending his days relaxing in his cosy bed, quietly recharging his batteries for those joyful bursts of playtime with his family. He absolutely loves toys — any toys — he’s not picky in the slightest, and his enthusiasm for play is as sweet as it is endearing.

He also adores the company of the resident female dog companion, sharing gentle play and affectionate moments that bring out his soft, social side. Having a kind, spayed female friend in the home helps him feel settled, confident, and loved.

Buster is the kind of boy who brings peace, warmth, and quiet joy into a home — a gentle soul who simply wants to relax, play, and enjoy life with the people (and doggy friend) he loves most.

Needs:

Buster is a sweet, steady boy who thrives in a calm family home — a place where life moves gently and he can enjoy the quiet company of his humans. He’s happiest when he can relax in peace, knowing his people are close by and that he’s safe, loved, and part of the family’s everyday rhythm.

Because Buster has had luxating patella surgery, he’ll need a family who understands his limitations and embraces a slower pace of life with him. Long hikes and strenuous adventures aren’t for him, but soft strolls, sunshine, and shared moments absolutely are. A secure garden is essential, giving him a safe space to potter, sunbathe, and enjoy the outdoors without pressure.

Buster would love a gentle female dog companion — one who is spayed, calm, and happy to share her home with a kind‑hearted boy like him. With the right match, he’ll enjoy the comfort of canine company while still cherishing the closeness of his humans.

Buster is ready for a family who sees the beauty in his slower pace, his soft nature, and his loving heart — a family who will treasure him for exactly who he is.

Walk/exercise:

Buster is a tender, easy‑going boy who enjoys life at a slower, gentler pace, and his little luxating patella means he truly appreciates calm, steady walks where he can take his time. He loves nothing more than a peaceful stroll around the park, stopping to watch the world go by with that soft, thoughtful expression that makes you fall in love with him all over again.

Buster isn’t in a rush — he just wants to enjoy the fresh air, feel safe beside his humans, and soak up the simple joys of being out together. For a family who cherishes quiet moments and a companion who moves through life with kindness and calm, Buster will be the sweetest addition to your home.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Buster is a good boy.

Travel:

Buster travels very well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Buster struggles with allergies this shows as Infected ears, swollen paws and a little bit of flaky skin because of this he must stay on a hypoallergenic diet and allergy medication called Zenrelia.

Buster’s weight must be controlled to prevent further issue’s with his back legs. Buster has undergone extensive treatment to get him happy and healthy. Should any further issues arise they will be the responsibility of his new owners.

Sometimes Bulldogs are excited to play but don’t realise their size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as they have the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Buster’s story.

Welcome Buster to the Springboard Family

This announcement is different from anything we usually share… because today, we are fighting for a life.

Please meet Buster, a 6-year-old entire boy who came into our care after his owners made the bravest, most heartbreaking decision they have ever faced. His family had already suffered a great personal loss before having to make the devastating choice to surrender him, and they did so with Buster’s welfare firmly at heart. As always, we ask for kindness and no judgement.

Buster was collected yesterday by our wonderful volunteer Eleni and is now safe in foster in the South East and his new fur foster brother, Brisket. But the moment we looked into his eyes, we knew something was terribly wrong.
The pain and sorrow in his eyes is absolutely heartbreaking. This is a boy who has been suffering for far too long.

We rushed him straight to our vets in Solihull.

What they found left us devastated.

Buster is battling severe ear infections in both ears, alongside incredibly painful interdigital cysts and badly infected paws — described by the vet as the worst he has ever seen. Every step hurts. Every moment hurts.

On top of this, Buster has torn his back right cruciate ligament and has also damaged his left hip from trying to cope with the injury.
A cruciate rupture is not just a limp — it means the knee is unstable, every movement is painful, and walking, standing, or even lying down becomes a struggle. Without surgery, this kind of injury can lead to permanent lameness, severe arthritis, and lifelong pain. Buster has been forcing his body to cope, and it has already begun to break down.

As if this wasn’t enough, the vet also discovered a lump near his rear end. While we are incredibly relieved that it is not cancer, it is yet another issue that will need monitoring and care.

This poor boy is living in relentless, constant pain. No dog should have to endure what he has been carrying in silence.

Buster has been sent home with two different types of antibiotics for his feet and skin, antibiotic ear drops, and two different forms of pain relief to try to keep him as comfortable as possible. He will be reviewed again in one week’s time. But the vet has been heartbreakingly honest with us: after everything Buster has suffered, even with surgery and extensive treatment, his future quality of life is uncertain.

That truth breaks our hearts.
But Buster’s quality of life is our absolute priority, and we will do everything in our power to help him. He deserves the chance to know comfort. He deserves to know what it feels like to live without pain.

We urgently need your help — right now.
Buster’s cruciate surgery alone is estimated at £2,000, and this is only one part of the treatment he desperately needs. Without support, his road to recovery is frighteningly limited.

Please help us help Buster.
If you can donate, share, or simply help spread his story, you are giving this boy something he has been deprived of for far too long — hope.

Buster is finally safe.
He is finally being listened to.
And with your support, we can fight to give him comfort, dignity, and the chance of a life free from pain — something every dog deserves.

Thank you for standing with us… and with Buster
