Buster – Now Adopted!

Buster is home!!
You may remember that Buster arrived into foster back in May. His family were struggling go manage his ongoing skin conditon and after months of back and fourth conversation with our admin team, he was surrendered to us.
Our fabulous volunteers Kate and Chloe went the same day to collect our gorgeous boy and to say they were heartbroken to see the state Buster was in, would be an understatement
Buster went into emergency foster with Chloe, Louis and GBSR Brody so we could assess Busters condition and get him straight to one of our trusted vets. His skin was so split and sore, he cried when having his first bath
We knew Buster needed an extra special foster family and lucikly we knew just the family for the job… enter our rescue coordinator Emma and her family!
Emma very sadly has experience with fosters who have extreme skin conditions and thankfully, with lots of love, TLC, multiple baths (much to Buster’s annoyance) and lots of medicine from the vets! Buster finally started getting better and his fur even started growing back
Unfortunately, as Buster started to decompress he started having squabbles with Emma’s resident dogs so the decision was made for him to move to a dog free foster.
Buster moved to join Tashy and her family. He continued to thrive under Tashy’s care and his skin was better by the week!
When Busters applications opened, we couldn’t understand why he didn’t receive an application from the perfect family
After Buster’s applications had been open for a couple of weeks, Tashy asked if she could make Buster aka Bussy, a permanent family member and after seeing how settled he was, we just couldnt say no!! Buster has found his happy ever after with foster family
We would like to say a huge thank you to Chloe and, in particular, Emma and her family for being a part of Buster’s foster journey. It’s been a heartbreaking journey along the way, but now our boy has finally got the ending he deserves!
Without further ado, please join us in congratulating Tashy, Geoff, Ashton and Spoons the tortoise on their new family member, Buster
Buster’s story.
Please welcome #Buster into our Springboard Family
Buster is 20 months old and entire.
We were contacted by his family for advice and for the past 12 months we have advised and supported them.
BUT OUR ADVICE WAS NOT FOLLOWED
And for those past 12 months, his owners have watched Buster get worse and worse until he is the tiny and poorly little soul you see on here today (video in comments)
HE HAS NOT SEEN A VET IN MONTHS ..!!
How can you watch your dog deteriorate like this? just how can you when we have been telling you what you need to do for A YEAR..!!
It’s downright cruelty
On Thursday Buster started his journey to the Midlands where he will be fostered by Chloe (mum to GBSR boy Brody). Thank you, Chloe & Kate, for collecting Buster for us, we really appreciate you dropping everything and getting him into foster for us
Yesterday Chloe took Buster to the Vet, and we cannot repeat what he said but he was horrified and heartbroken at the pure NEGLECT Buster had endured
He has body score of 4/10 and he is 4 kilos underweight,,!!
As you can see, Buster’s skin is in a terrible state and he has open sores under his tail, on his bottom and another under his paw
His ears are filthy, and he is suffering with what looks like entropion in one eye but before we can go any further with that, we need to bring this ‘love of a boy’ back to health.
Buster was immediately started on steroids and pain relief, Bravecto & Malaseb baths.
So last night Chloe gave him what should have been a soothing bath, but he is now in so much pain with his split and weeping skin, he cried when she bathed him … no animal should ever have to suffer like this
All Buster has known is discomfort, but he is still such a happy little boy, its truly heart-breaking and it makes us so angry..!!
Buster will be moving to Emma Turnbull in the North East to carry on his recovery in the next few days, as Chloe can only temp foster for us, but he will be in very good hands with Emma as she has fostered many dogs in Busters condition
We are holding a fundraiser for Buster as his road to recovery will be long so please consider helping Buster on his Springboard Journey.
