A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Charlie has many adorable quirks and will keep you entertained all day with his antics and playful nature.
He adores his toys and will initiate play.
Charlie is an affectionate boy who loves to be cuddled and showered in affection.
Behaviour:
Charlie still has lot’s to learn, he led a very sheltered life and has found some of the world and his new experiences overwhelming.
He can get overly excited for parcels, window cleaners and will jump up with excitement, he can get fixated on things and needs to be distracted, but he is responding well to training and is growing confidence.
Initially Charlie can be quite anxious this may lead to humping but as he settles it will soon stop.
Charlie loves his toys; he will happily share with his humans but doesn’t like to share with other dogs.
Needs:
Charlie needs a calm and patient family willing and able to dedicate the time to train him and help him adjust to his new world.
A garden is a must as he loves to run and play fetch with his foster family.
Children 10+ who can understand Charlies needs and behaviours.
Charlie would much prefer to be an only pet.
Walk/exercise:
Charlie loves his walks; he is learning to walk nicely on the lead and to sit and wait at the roadside, his training will need to continue in his new home.
Charlie can be excitable when meeting new dogs and people whilst out, as he continues to learn he will soon be able to mingle with dogs outside the home.
Toilet trained:
Charlie may have an accident initially but as soon as he knows his new routine he be a good boy.
Travel:
Charlie prefers to travel crated as he can be anxious and is easily spooked by the windscreen wipers.
We will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.
We recommend always using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate when transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Sometimes Charlie is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information:
Charlie is the most beautiful gentle and good-natured little boy; he is just looking for the right family who can see what incredible potential he has.
Life will never be dull for any family lucky enough to call him their own. He has certainly brought so much joy to our GBSR team and we can’t wait to see where his adventures take him.
A little of Charlie’s story below,
Please welcome the very cheeky Charlie to our GBSR family!!
Charlie is a 3year old entire male and what a handsome 1 at that.We were contacted by a lady that had taken Charlie as temporary situation until the owner could take him back. But that situation turned into a more permanent one. Sadly her circumstances changed and she didn’t have the time nor the space for poor Charlie after moving into a caravan.
Charlie has terrible cherry eye and what looks to be eye ulcers possibly in both eyes. His claws are overgrown and he has interdigital cysts on at least 2 of his paws. And needed a good bath after living on a dusty site.
Huge thank you to Kirsty and Paul Johnson for collecting Charlie so quickly.
Charlie is in foster in Yorkshire and has settled in so fantasticly (although we aren’t so sure the cats agree)
What a happy boy he is, he jumped straight onto his FDs lap in the car and they became besties instantly.
Charlie has had a visit from Aunty Charlotte who has thoroughly spoiled him and Uncle Billy who came to play.
He will be going to our vets ASAP so we can get on top of his eyes quickly. Hopefully with quick intervention we can get him back to full eye health.
And we are sure with a few good soaks in some Epsom salts his paws will be feeling better soon too.
We are so excited to be apart of your journey Charlie and can’t wait to watch your adventures unfold
