A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Clara is a very special lady.

Clara has an active and playful nature, and she is affectionate towards her humans and will seek their attention and company.

Clara adores children and will seek them out for attention.

Behaviour:

Clara bears the scars of being attacked by other dogs, this has left her with fear-based reactivity towards dogs both in and outside the home.

Some scars are not visible and have left Clara feeling insecure, it will take her time to build confidence and to feel secure in her new family.

Clara’s neglect has left her with hearing loss her new family must be patient and be prepared to give her the consistency and guidance that she needs.

Needs:

Clara needs a calm but active family environment with someone home the majority of the day.

Clara’s family will need to be confident with the breed and able to put boundaries in place, to help Clara reach her full potential.

A garden is a must, space to play and exercise.

Walk/exercise:

Clara enjoys her walks; she can pull on the lead to begin with but with ongoing training she will continue to improve.

Clara can be reactive when meeting unfamiliar dogs on walks, we would encourage her family to work with a trainer.

Toilet trained:

Clara may have the odd accident as she settles into a new home, this is normal for any dog

in a new environment.

Clara can “wet” her bed during the night but this is easily managed.

Travel:

Clara loves a car ride; she settles very well crated because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt harness or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Clara has allergies so it is recommended that she stays on her current diet, she is currently having 1 Piriton a day, her forever family may wish to consider other allergy medications in the future.

Clara has been on half an Apoquel a day which is currently being reduced to every other day. This may be something that her new family may wish to continue, to help control her allergies.

Clara has dry eye and will need optimmune lubricant drops for the remainder of her life.

Clara has minor luxating patella this does not require surgical intervention, exercise and diet to control her weight and build muscle mass will keep this under control. It is recommended that Clara stays on the daily supplement Youmove this will help support her joints.

Clara has minor separation anxiety this improves as she settles and understands new rules and boundaries.

Sometimes Clara is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Clara has not had the best start to life, sadly this has left her with scars both visible and not. But the heart that this lady has proven what an incredible breed English Bulldogs are. Clara is the ideal companion, thriving on close contact with her humans.

All our incredible lady needs is someone to see past her awful beginnings, and want to give her the time and love she has always deserved.

Clara’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

WARNING LONG & HEARTBREAKING POST

In the shadowed corners of despair, Clara emerged—a fragile soul battered by life’s cruelty. Our hearts ache as we introduce her, our newest member at Geordie Bullies Springboard Rescue (GBSR). Brace yourself; this story is a raw wound, seeping with neglect and outright abuse.

Her former owners faced their own loss—their home slipping away. Instead of safeguarding Clara, they heartlessly abandoned her alongside two other dogs. Imagine the loneliness she endured during those uncertain days.

Three long months in a kennel followed—a desolate existence. The company that initially covered her expenses withdrew their support, suggesting she be put to sleep. But we couldn’t bear it. Clara deserved more—a chance at life beyond suffering.

We don’t know her exact age, but her eyes tell a tale of suffering etched across time. We knew to expect a poor little soul, but nothing could prepare our admin team for the heartache we all now face.

Clara a skeletal figure, her body bearing the scars of repeated pregnancies. Her skin, once vibrant, now raw and sore from malnutrition and untreated infections. But it’s her ears—swollen shut, ravaged by prolonged neglect—that reveal the true extent of her pain.

Enter Ian and Matthew, our angels. They rescued Clara from the kennel, granting her respite and an urgent vet appointment. The diagnosis tore at our hearts: Clara is a very poorly little girl. Vet bills loom—potentially exceeding £10,000. The list of ailments reads like a litany of neglect:

TACA (Total Ear Canal Ablation): Her ears, damaged by years of infection, require removal. The pain will be excruciating.

HIP DYSPLASIA: X-rays will reveal the extent of damage. Total hip replacement may be necessary.

Dry eye, secondary skin infections, and overall body deterioration.

Clara’s suffering is prolonged neglect, outright abuse. She’s borne many litters, yet not a single penny went toward her well-being. Instead, they exploited her pain.

Clara’s journey won’t be easy. Vet visits, treatments—the road ahead is steep

But we can’t do this alone we NEED your help.

With 48,686 followers across our social media, even a £1 contribution from each follower could change not just Clara’s life, but so many others.

Let’s rewrite her story—one of resilience, compassion, and healing.

We would like to use some of the donations to give her a little comfort, such as a bed, blankets, everything she will need during her healing.
