Dave – In Foster – South East
Please welcome #Fabulous #Dave into our Springboard Family
Dave is a sweet 3-year-old neutered boy who recently found himself in need of a new start. He was rehomed at the beginning of the month, but soon after, his new owner noticed some concerning changes in his mobility. Dave became unsteady on his feet and began dragging his back legs, raising fears of a neurological condition like Spina Bifida.
Seeking answers, the new owner requested his veterinary records, but unfortunately, no information came through. With no background and growing concern over his health and the potential costs of caring for a disabled dog, the new owner made the heart breaking decision to reach out for help.
Despite resting Dave, which improved his mobility to some extent, the new owner couldn’t get support or clarity from the rescue or the original owner—who ultimately blocked communication. It was then that they contacted us
This afternoon, our Foster Volunteer Heather Tyler Marchant collected Dave and has taken him into foster care in the South East. A huge thank you, Heather—we’re so grateful to you for opening your home and heart to Dave
Dave had his first vet visit with us today. And there is good news? Our vet isn’t convinced it’s Spina Bifida. Instead, it may be a muscle strain, likely worsened by Dave’s current weight—he’s a bit of a potato! So, he’s starting on gentle 5-minute walks twice a day and is officially on a diet.
It was a sad handover for his previous owner, who had recently lost their beloved EB and hoped Dave would help heal their heart. It’s clear this decision was incredibly difficult, but made with love and Dave’s best interests at heart.
Heather is already falling for this charming boy—and we can’t blame her! With his adorable face and loving nature, it’s hard not to
Please join us in giving #FabulousDave the warmest Springboard welcome as he begins this new chapter 🐾
