A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Dax is a happy go lucky boy, he is active and playful with a gentle nature.

Dax adores his humans and dog companions; he will happily seek attention and affection from either.

Behaviour:

Dax is a bouncy boy who needs plenty of interaction and exercise.

He loves toys, especially balls and will destuff a soft toy in minutes.

Dax won’t be suitable for a family with cats as he will chase.

Needs:

Dax needs an active family, who will be able to give him the exercise he needs.

A garden is a must for this boy, to give him plenty space to play in.

Dax will benefit from having a playful and laid-back companion to keep him company when his humans are away.

Walk/exercise:

Dax loves his walks and will go for miles; he will pull and is learning road safety but this will need ongoing training.

Dax walks well on his own and in a small pack, he can be a little overwhelmed with entire males in larger groups.

Dax has weak hips so needs regular exercises to help build his muscle mass, vet has recommended to purchase a wobble board.

We will provide you with his exercise routine, it is easily manageable at home.

Toilet trained:

Dax is a very good boy.

Travel:

Dax travels very well, he will settle very well on the backseat or in the boot. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Dax has mild hip dysplasia and mild luxating patella he has had a full assessment from our vet who has recommended exercise to build up his muscle mass and anti-inflammatory medication should he need.

Surgery is not recommended, but should his new owners feel, this may be needed in the future it will be the new owner’s responsibility.

Sometimes Dax is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Dax is a happy and bouncy young boy, with a gentle and loving nature. Dax is best suited to an active family who will take him hiking and on adventures and have the time to help him reach his full potential. If you are looking for a companion to take on life’s adventures, then Dax is most definitely the boy for the job.

Dax’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Dax’s story below,

Please join us in welcoming Dax to our GBSR family!

Dax is a 3-year-old Olde Tyme Bulldog with a heart full of love. While we don’t typically take in Olde Tyme Bulldogs, we couldn’t turn our backs on Dax, who was facing an uncertain future in kennels.

Dax was on the PTS (Put to Sleep) list due to the overwhelming rescue crisis in our country. With no other options available, we knew we had to step in and give him a chance at a happy life.

This situation is not the fault of the kennels, who work tirelessly to find rescue spaces for these dogs. Unfortunately, there are far too many dogs and not nearly enough spaces.

When we were asked to help, we couldn’t say no. We believe our supporters will understand and support our decision to rescue this beautiful boy. A huge thank you to Adam and Sarah Bowley for opening your hearts and home to Dax.

Dax is now in foster care with Adam and Sarah in the Midlands and is settling in wonderfully. He is proving to be a gentle giant with a sweet and loving temperament. Introductions with Adam and Sarah’s dogs, including our very own Bella the Brave, went smoothly. Dax has even taken a liking to the smallest dog bed they have!

Dax will be visiting our vet later today due to concerns about weakness in his back legs and head tremors, which might be related to an inner ear issue.

Dax, your journey to a happy ever after has begun, and we can’t wait to see you thrive.
