A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Dolcie is a very bright young girl, with lot’s still to learn.

She is easily excitable, with a playful and cheeky nature and so full of affection for her humans.

Behaviour:

Dolcie is a highly active little girl, who can have hyper over excitable moments that will need managing.

Dolcie can’t be crated, unfortunately she associates a crate negatively, it creates anxiety for her, and she will not settle.

Dolcie can be over stimulated by excitable behaviour, so a calm environment is best for her, this will change as she settles, matures and has firm boundaries in place.

Needs:

Dolcie needs a calm but active environment, with a family who understands her needs.

A family who are dedicated and committed to continue her training.

Any dog in the home would need to be laid-back and tolerant of a young excitable dog.

Walk/exercise:

Dolcie needs daily walks, she is an active young girl, and this will help with her training and keeping her excitability down.

Dolcie walks well with company and alone, and she does enjoy meeting new dogs and people whilst out.

Recall is good unless there are distractions, then she has typical bulldog recall.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Dolcie is a very good girl.

Travel:

Dolcie loves to travel in the car, she will need a seatbelt harness to make sure she is secure.

Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours away from her current location.

Things to be aware of:

Dolcie will be rehomed on a “to be spayed” contract she will be recalled at 18months to be spayed at a vet of the charities choosing with costs covered by the charity.

As Dolcie is entire she will not be rehomed with any entire males.

Dolcie has had surgery for cruciate ligament rupture, she has had the torn ligament removed as her knee joint is stable.

Vet’s must be made aware that Dolcie doesn’t react well to anaesthetic or sedatives, it takes her much longer to come round.

Dolcie hasn’t a bad bone in her body and shows no malice towards other animals. But she is not suitable to be rehomed with small breed dogs, as she could cause injury during rough play.

Sometimes Dolcie is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over. None of this is in malice, she just

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Dolcie’s life before GBSR was sheltered, she had very little contact with the outside world, so a lot of environments and experiences are still new to her. Dolcie has such a joy in her heart that you just can’t help but fall for her cheeky charms.

A little of Dolcie’s story below,

We introduce you to Dolcie, a beautiful young female barely a year old. Her journey has been fraught with uncertainty and pain. Passed from one situation to another, she’s bewildered and scared.

Dolcie’s story is heartbreaking. The breeder considered drowning her and her litter mates, and we can only hope that fate spared those who found new homes. But Dolcie’s struggles didn’t end there. Her previous owner attempted to rehome her, but it didn’t work out. During this time, Dolcie suffered an injury. The vet suspected a luxating patella, yet she received no treatment.

Thankfully, our team stepped in when we learned of Dolcie’s plight. Ade, our foster, collected Dolcie and rushed her to our vets. The diagnosis is grim: Dolcie has a cruciate ligament rupture, causing immense pain. We don’t know how long she’s endured this suffering, but her well-being is now our top priority.

Ade is making sure that Dolcie is taking it easy and she is settling well and enjoying the company of Ade’s beautiful pair Harvey and Lils. She has the most beautiful temperament and such a loving nature. Makes it almost worse to have her suffer as she has.

As you’ve seen from our past fundraisers, surgeries like the one Dolcie needs are neither cheap nor easy. But we believe in miracles, and we’re asking for your help. Can you spare a donation to support Dolcie’s medical care? Let’s give her comfort and a fresh start.

Your generosity has transformed lives before, and Dolcie needs you now. We aim to raise £3000 for her treatment, including x-rays, medication, and everything she requires during her recovery.

We truly appreciate any donation, no matter how small it all makes a difference!!
