Dougie – Ready for Adoption! – Yorkshire & Humberside

Dogs name: Dougie.

Age: 2 years old.

Current location: Glossop

I CAN LIVE WITH

Children: Yes, dog savvy.

Cats: Untested.

Dogs: No, needs to be the only prince in the home.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Dougie will seek attention from his humans, he actively initiates playtime and will seek you out for affection.

Dougie’s affectionate nature makes him an ideal family member who enjoys physical attention.

In true bulldog fashion Dougie enjoys a good snooze.

Behaviour:

Dougie understands basic commands and is responsive to his humans, especially if a treat is involved.

Dougie can be boisterous and jump up at first but will soon calm down when told to.

Dougie has been learning his basic commands but will need ongoing training as he has the typical bulldog deaf ear.

Dougie will leave objects & toys when asked and displays no concerning behaviours or guarding tendencies.

Dougie loves playing with toys, balls being his favourite. He will quite happily amuse himself throwing them around.

Needs:

Dougie needs a confident family who will continue his training and help him reach his full potential.

Dougie can be over stimulated by excitable behaviour, so a calm environment is best for him, this will change as he settles, matures and has firm boundaries in place.

A garden to play and exercise in is a must for Dougie.

Walk/exercise:

Dougie loves his walks; he will need ongoing lead training as he has a tendency to pull.

Dougie can be excitable when meeting unfamiliar dogs and may bark at them, this is easily redirected as you continue with the walk.

Dougie is building up his stamina and is currently being walked for around 20 minutes at a time.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Dougie is a good boy.

Travel:

Dougie is excited to be in the car but soon settles down, because of this we will consider applications up to 4 hours away.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Dougie uses Chlorexyderm shampoo to help with sore patches on his skin and will need to stay on this going forward.

Sometimes Dougie is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as Dougie has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Dougie is a typical young bulldozer of a bulldog who is very loving and enjoys long snoozes and playing with his toys.

He is everything you would ask for in an affectionate, playful and loving bulldog.

Dougie is a well-rounded boy who would suit a calm but active family home with. Any family lucky enough to adopt him will be truly blessed.

Dougie’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Dougie’s story below,

Please welcome Dougie into our Springboard Family

Dougie is only a year old and he has spent 7 days in kennels after being found wandering in a Park as a stray – he was unclaimed

But as 1 door closes another door opens and for Dougie, the rest of his life has been secured now he is a GBSR boy in the arms of his Springboard Family

We want to extend our thanks to Kerry Pike who collected Dougie for us as a temp foster – thank you so much, we really appreciate you taking the time to put Dougies needs first

Dougie was collected from Kelly by Scott Wright yesterday and Dougie has wasted no time making himself at home with Scott & Claire in the Yorkshire & Humberside area.

Thank you so much Scott & Claire, we very much appreciate you helping out with Dougie and taking him into your home

Dougie has a Cherry Eye that needs fixing at some point, but for now he is just loving life being out of kennels and he has been treated to a good bath & good food

So welcome to your new life Dougie, you have landed on your paws with foster parents Claire & Scott, so enjoy your journey

Your new life starts here
