A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Dozer is a big softie with a very puppy-like heart. He is loving, affectionate and happiest when he is close to his people, often following you around like a little shadow in the hope of cuddles or food. He adores physical contact, especially belly rubs, and really thrives on human attention.
With people, especially new people, he can get over-excited and forget his manners. He may jump up, in excitement, very much like a young puppy who hasn’t quite learned self-control yet.
Dozer is a loyal, stubbornly sweet, and full of character bulldog. He is a gentle, loving companion who just needs guidance, patience and continued training to help him become the polite, calm bulldog he has the potential to be.
Behaviour:
Dozer is a kind-hearted boy who is still learning how to manage his excitement. He loves being involved in everything and thrives on companionship, so he can sometimes get a little overwhelmed when his emotions run high which leads to jumping up.
Dozer knows some basic commands. He can sit and wait, especially at feeding time, and he understands paw too. He is very food motivated, which helps his training, although it can also make him a little pushy and excitable. With consistency and calm handling, he is more than capable of learning more commands and improving his manners further.
Dozer doesn’t really understand rough play and can become over-excited when things get too energetic. He can forget his manners in the moment and use his body in an enthusiastic, puppy-like way without realising his size or strength. This behaviour isn’t harmful in any way, it simply comes from excitement and youthful enthusiasm, and he responds well to calm, firm guidance and clear boundaries, settling quickly once redirected.
Needs:
Dozer needs a calm, structured, and loving environment where he can feel included and secure. He will thrive in a home where he has company, either another dog or people around because he feels more confident and relaxed with companionship.
Dozer would benefit from a home with a calm, laid-back female dog. Having a gentle, steady companion would help him feel more relaxed and secure, giving him confidence and encouraging him to settle more easily both in the home and on walks. He enjoys canine company and thrives when he has another dog to look to for reassurance and companionship.
Walk/exercise:
Dozer enjoys gentle, relaxed walks at his own pace. He’s not a fast or high-energy dog; instead, he likes to stop, sniff, and take in his surroundings, making him ideal for a calm, unhurried walking routine. He doesn’t pull on the lead and gets along well with other dogs during walks, enjoying a friendly sniff and greeting.
Dozer’s exercise needs are moderate, calm, and consistent, with plenty of opportunities to explore safely and at his own pace.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Dozer is a good boy
Travel:
Dozer travels very well in the car. He is relaxed and comfortable, usually sitting quietly on the back seat and enjoying the ride. He does not show signs of stress or anxiety during travel, making him a calm and easy companion for trips. Because of this we will consider homes up to four hours from his foster home.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Dozer is highly food-motivated, which is great for training, but he can be pushy or eager around food. He eats quickly and should have structured feeding routines.
Dozer has allergies so needs to stay on his current diet of Purina hypoallergenic which helps to keep his allergies under control.
Sometimes Dozer is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Dozer’s foster family:
Dozer is a cuddly boy who loves to be at your side. He is a slow plodder on a walk who loves to meet other dogs and he loves to sleep the day away in comfort with a belly rub. He is a young boy and still hasnt learnt how to behave properly with new people he can jump and behave like a puppy. We have been working on this on foster and he has already made massive progress so ongoing training will be needed.
Dozer’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Please join us in welcoming #Dozer into the GBSR family
We were alerted to a little, underweight boy who was about to finish his 7-day hold at the kennels. With only minutes to spare, we were thankfully able to step in and bring him to safety
When we reached out to our amazing GBSR volunteers for help, Gail immediately jumped into action and headed straight to the kennels to collect him
Dozer arrived in a very sorry state. He’s extremely anxious, with several hot spots across his body and painful-looking sores on his feet. His ears and nose rope are extremely filthy. He’s also very slim — but we’re hopeful these are all issues we can address and improve over the next few weeks with a little bit of TLC
Gail has given Dozer a calm, gentle environment with plenty of space to decompress.
At his vet appointment, he weighed just 15kg. The vet also discovered that one of his testicles hasn’t fully descended, and he has some body scarring that may be the result of previous flea infestations. He’s been sent home with eye drops and pain relief to help him start healing.
It won’t be long before he’s cleaned up, more comfortable, and finally feeling like the cherished boy he deserves to be
For now, please give a warm welcome to #Dozer
