A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Duke has a happy and playful nature.
He loves to spend his days playing with the resident dogs and his evenings snuggled up on your lap.
Duke thrives on affection and will actively seek you out whether that be to play or for a cuddle.
Behaviour:
Duke is an active boy, and still very puppy like.
He LOVES to rough play, and he can be very mouthy, he doesn’t know the off button, so may need to separate to encourage a rest otherwise he’ll go and go!
Duke can be very stubborn, and lively!
Duke needs continued training; he is eager to learn and has been doing very well learning commands.
Needs:
Duke needs an active family environment, with a family who understand his needs and can commit to his long-term treatment.
A family committed to training and helping this boy reach his incredible potential.
A garden is a must for this boy he loves to play.
A laid-back doggy companion to keep him company while his humans are away and that can join in and play his favourite biteyface game.
Walk/exercise:
Duke loves his walks; he is curious and loves to explore.
He can pull to start but has been doing very well with training.
Duke walks well alone and, in a pack, and likes to walk alongside.
Duke enjoys meeting new people and unfamiliar dogs on his journeys.
Toilet trained:
Duke is a good boy.
Travel:
Duke travels very well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours away from his current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Duke has undergone many surgeries to help his eye’s, and he is still healing, however this has drastically improved his quality of life.
Duke has allergies so must stay on a hypoallergenic food
He is allergic to poultry and possible environmental allergies, foster changed all cleaning products from chemical to vegan, this has proven to do well.
Duke is on apoquel this is a medication he will need to stay on to control his allergies. This will be the responsibility of his new family. You can request a prescription and order online to reduce costs.
Duke will need weekly baths to keep on top of his skin.
Duke has had a skin graft on his eye, this will need daily lubricant eyedrops for life, these can be ordered via amazon.
Sometimes Duke is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information:
Please don’t let the allergies or his eyes put you off him, a good routine will make it simple and easy to manage.
Duke is the most incredible young boy, so full of character that has stolen the hearts of us all. Duke will be the most amazing addition to any family. We dare you not to fall head over heels for our boy!!
A little about Duke’s story below,
Please welcome the extremely handsome Duke.
Duke is a 3year old entire male.
We were contacted by Dukes devastated family to help their beautiful boy. Sadly, Duke has had many issues since being a tiny puppy.
From undescended testicles to allergies and major eye issues. They made sure he was insured but it has limits and maxed out credit cards. It has come to the point where they just couldn’t afford to take care of him.
They had already got him through castration, skin grafts, and entropian surgery for his eyes. But they knew they couldn’t keep going and that the best thing for Duke was to find someone to help.
It wasn’t an easy decision for them at all.
Huge thank you to Trish Plaister for helping transport Duke to his foster family.
Duke is in foster with the fabulous Kate Stockman Mark and of course the very handsome Bear and Thunder in the Midlands and so far, is settling really well. He is such a sweet boy.
Kate went out a bought vegan cleaning products to reduce the environmental allergens in her home and bought Duke his stunning new fancy footwear for out on walks.
As you can see his skin is so sore in places especially under his chin and neck from the cone, he sadly has to wear to protect his healing eye. He will be seeing our vet in the next week, and they will go through his extensive medical records to make sure we are doing everything we need to be to be sure he heals well.
Welcome to our family Duke, we all love you already and can’t wait to see where your new adventures take you.
