A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Eddie is a gentle, affectionate boy with a wonderfully soft nature and a big love for human companionship. Initially a little shy and reserved, he quickly forms strong bonds and thrives on closeness, happily seeking out cuddles, kisses and quiet affection.
Once Eddie feels safe, his sweet personality shines through, he truly is a “giant teddy bear” who simply wants to be near his people.
Eddie enjoys calm interaction and is happiest relaxing beside you, soaking up attention and offering plenty of love in return.
Behaviour:
Eddie has a typical stubborn bulldog streak and can be quite headstrong. He understands some basic commands such as sit and paw, but consistency and firm, positive guidance will be important as he continues learning. He can be grabby when taking treats and does not yet reliably respond to commands like “leave” or recall, so ongoing training will be essential.
Eddie enjoys grooming and handling overall, though he is sensitive about having his facial folds cleaned and may resist, requiring patience and ongoing positive reinforcement. Despite this, he is showing steady improvement.
Eddie demonstrates very good manners and impulse control around food, which is a lovely trait and makes him easy to manage within the home. At feeding times, he remains calm and patient, happily sitting and waiting while his meals are prepared. He does not bark, jump up, or rush towards his bowl, showing a clear understanding of routine and boundaries.
Needs:
Eddie will need a home that offers both structure and affection in equal measure. He thrives on human companionship and will do best with owners who enjoy having a dog close by, as he is happiest when included in daily life rather than left alone for long periods.
Eddie also needs clear leadership and consistent boundaries. Like many bulldogs, he is strong-willed and can be stubborn, so he requires an owner who is confident, patient, and willing to continue his training.
Eddie would be well suited to a home with a calm, well-matched female dog, as he has shown he can form relaxed and positive relationships with female companions. Equally, he would be very happy living as the only dog, where he can enjoy plenty of human attention and companionship. Eddie is highly people-focused and thrives on affection, so whether alongside a gentle female dog or as the centre of his family’s world, he will flourish in a calm, loving home.
Walk/exercise:
Eddie enjoys his walks and is always eager to head out for an adventure. He is happy having his harness put on and shows plenty of enthusiasm when it’s time to go out, making it clear that he enjoys getting out and exploring.
Eddie walks confidently both on solo walks and in group settings, and he tends to go with the flow, calmly strolling alongside other dogs without becoming distracted or reactive. He shows very little interest in unfamiliar dogs when out in public and is content to simply enjoy his walk.
At present, Eddie does pull quite strongly on the lead, so he will need a physically capable handler and continued lead training to help him learn calmer walking manners. With consistency and guidance, this is something that should improve over time.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Eddie is a good boy
Travel:
Eddie is very relaxed and comfortable when travelling. He settles well in the car, either clipped into the back seat or resting calmly in the boot, and does not show signs of stress or anxiety.
Because of this we will consider homes up to four hours away from his foster home
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Eddie requires regular cleaning of his facial and nose folds to prevent infections. He is improving with handling but may still resist at times, so patience is needed.
Loud or chaotic situations can make him nervous or cautious, and he may bark or growl when unsure. Reassurance and a calm space help him feel secure.
Eddie is booked for cherry eye surgery and neutering on 10th March and will be able to join his new home once he has received the all-clear from the vet.
Sometimes Eddie is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Eddie’s foster family:
Just look into Eddies eyes and melt, his face is a giant squishy cuddle waiting to happen. He is so loving and adorable anyone will fall in love with him, and you cant resist just sitting and snuggling with this beautiful, chilled young boy

Meet #Eddie!
Please join us in welcoming the very handsome hunk, Eddie!
Sadly, Eddie has come into our care due to a relationship breakdown, where neither owner was able to keep him. These situations are always heartbreaking, but we’re grateful that we can be here to help him start a new chapter.
Eddie was collected from the South East by our wonderful volunteer Martin — this is Martin’s very first foster with us, and we’re so pleased to have him on board!
Eddie is 4 years old and, despite his size, he’s a speedy walker with plenty of energy. On first glance, his skin looks in great condition, as do his ears and breathing. He’ll be booked in shortly for his initial health check, where we’ll carry out a full examination.
For now, Eddie is settling in well with Martin and his family. As he continues to decompress, we’re excited to see his cheeky personality start to shine through
Please give a warm welcome to the gorgeous Eddie!
