Dogs name: Gary

Current location: Hull, Humberside.
I CAN LIVE WITH
Children: 10+ dog savvy children.
Cats: Yes, dog savvy cats.
Dogs: Yes, laid-back but playful dogs.
A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Gary is the epitome of man’s best friend; he absolutely adores his humans.
He has playful, energetic and cheeky nature and will seek out his humans and other dogs in the home, for attention and affection.
Gary loves to play, his favourite toy is a football, and he likes to rough play with his foster dad.
Behaviour:
Gary can be startled by sudden movements which can have him air snap.
Gary has been learning his commands.
Gary is very food oriented and responds well to treats, however in typical bulldog style he will try and pinch food from his humans.
Gary is a very vocal boy especially when playing, this can be intimidating but holds no malice.
Needs:
Gary needs a calm but active family environment, with a family able to continue his training and keep firm boundaries in place.
A garden is a must, for Gary to play in and enjoy the sunshine.
A calm and playful doggy companion to keep him company and show him the ropes of his new home.
Older children in the home 10+ must understand that bulldogs need their rest.
Gary is crate trained, we would recommend that this continues in his new home.
And of course, an endless supply of footballs wouldn’t hurt!!
Walk/exercise:
Gary loves his walks; he is still learning how to walk on a lead but is thriving. Continued training will work wonders and build a great bond between Gary and his humans.
Gary loves interacting with unfamiliar dogs and meeting new people while out walking.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Gary is a very good boy.
Travel:
Gary loves a car ride, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Gary will need ongoing training to ensure he reaches his full potential.
He is a typical bulldozer of a bulldog; his family must keep boundaries in place for him to understand what is expected of him.
Sometimes Gary is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Gary’s foster family:
Gary is our lovely cuddle monster who has really stolen our hearts. His soft, caring eyes are so easy to melt into. It has been a great pleasure to see Gary blossom.
and show us his try, kind nature. He will greet you every day with his giant personality, huge paws and lots of kisses. He is simply amazing.
Gary’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Gary’s story below,
We were recently asked to take Gary as he had found himself in kennels with no claim on him.
Not much is known but we believe he is 4 years old, and he is entire.
On Saturday Gary was collected for us by Allison Tait and he is now in foster with her in the Yorkshire / Humberside area.
On collection he was very smelly but very sweet and was eager to please. He didn’t appear stressed and had a very good first night
Thank you for collecting Gary for us Allison and for offering to foster him for us. We hope you enjoy your first experience of fostering a GBSR baby and we will guide you every step of the way
Gary has been introduced to Doodles the resident Bulldog and they have been getting to know each other without any issues with visual separation using stair gates, walks together and supervised free access to each other.
So far, Gary has been a little star with Doodles … the resident cats are used to being around dogs, but Gary isn’t used to being around cats and will go to chase if they dart past but its still very early days.
Gary has had a bath to clean away the smells of the kennels and his previous life. He is starting his new life all clean and fresh
He will be having his vet check later this week and as there doesn’t appear to be any health issues, we hope to have him booked in for his neuter soon.
So, lets welcome Gary into our Springboard Family and we are looking forward to seeing him enjoy his new adventures with us
