A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
George actively seeks out his humans for attention and play. He likes to make sure he is the centre of his humans world.
George is a gentle giant, with an affectionate and playful nature.
George is an active boy with an inquisitive mind who will thrive in a good training routine, building the bond between him and his human.
Behaviour:
George loves toys and enjoys a game of tug of war; he can be very toy possessive so will need ongoing training in this area.
George will rough play and can be mouthy, but he is gentle and will stop when told.
Typical of his breed and age, George will try and push those boundaries. He can become over excited and jumpy, but with firm guidance he will respond well.
Needs:
George would benefit from a family who can continue with him on his journey with training and boundaries, to ensure he reaches his full potential.
George needs a calm but active home with older children. He a big and boisterous boy with so much still to learn, so not suitable to a home with younger children.
A garden is a must for George to play and explore in, he loves being outdoors.
George is able to live with a calm and laid back female but must be accepting of new dogs in the home, he is also able to live as an only dog.
Walk/exercise:
George walks very well on the lead and doesn’t pull. He loves being outside play and exploring his environment.
George does not have any recall so would need ongoing training in this area.
George can be anxious around bigger unfamiliar dogs whilst out the home.
Toilet trained:
Yes, George is a good boy.
Travel:
George travels well, because of this we would consider applications up to four hours away from his current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
George has BOAS prior to GBSR. It is very important to keep his weight under control and keep his lifestyle active.
George may be more susceptible to heatstroke so his family would have to make sure to take precautions in warmer weather
George is very stubborn and would benefit from some training if his new parents want him to respect their boundaries. They would need to understand this about him and be patient with him.
Sometimes George is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as George has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Georges foster family:
George is a super affectionate and loving dog who really bonds with his family and loves cuddles – he’ll often lean on you for some snuggle time and gives lots of kisses. He’s always up for playtime, full of energy, whether it’s a run in the park or a game of tug-of-war inside. He’s super curious and always checking things out, sniffing around and seeing what’s going on. He can be pretty stubborn sometimes though, very set in his ways, so there will be a need for patience and consistency with his training.
George’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.
**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. A little of George’s story below,
George
It is our pleasure to introduce this lovely 3-year-old boy called George into the arms of his new family
We are not going into the details of how he came to us, but he found himself with the wrong family and thanks to Sam, who is one of our volunteers, Gorgeous George is now a Springboard boy, thank you Sam
George is in foster with Tracey Jarvis in the Midlands and we want to extend our gratitude to Tracey for offering to foster for us. George will be Tracey’s first foster, and we hope it will be a fabulous first foster for her
So far George hasn’t put a little toe bean wrong and is going to be a complete heartbreaker. He has met Cooper the resident EB and apart from a little bit of humping from Cooper who is super excited to have a fur bro, the boys are getting along great
George is a cuddler and loves kisses and all attention and will let Tracey give his folds a nice clean, he is such a good boy
George has been neutered and is a few weeks post op from BOAS surgery so he will have his vet check and then spend a period in foster so we can assess his behaviour before putting him up for adoption so please don’t try and apply for him yet.
