Hugo – Now Adopted!
#Hugo is Home
We are so happy to announce that Hugo staying put with his best friend, his foster dad, now forever dad, Barry!
Hugo landed back in foster with us in June where he went into foster with our lovely volunteer Wayne in the North East. Wayne cared for Hugo immensely whilst he was under his care, but after a few weeks into his foster journey, Hugo just wasn’t happy, he wasn’t settling as well as we’d like and he needed a change of environment – thank you to Wayne and his family for being apart of his journey
Our gorgeous volunteers, Kirsty and Kirsty stepped in to help transport and keep Hugo over night whilst we made plans to get to Barry in Scotland. Thank you to you both for making the trip seamless!
We asked Barry to sum up how he felt about Hugo..
“To everyone who has been involved in Hugos journey I would just like to say a massive thank you..
I knew from day one there was a massive bond.
He just needed to have a permanent person to settle him and that is exactly what has happened.
I was tearful advertising him and seeing other posts of him and knew deep down inside me that if he left I would totally regret it.
We just seemed naturally to be together and I haven’t felt happier for a long time
During his foster period random people would stop in the street and talk and say you two should be together and that happened a lot
We are very rarely apart I take him everywhere with me even just nipping out for some milk.
I hope Hugo has found himself and is happy for ever after
Everyone who comes across him adores him unless you are wearing white trousers
Again thank you to this brilliant charity and all those who selflessly give up their time
Love Hugo and Barry ”
Please help us congratulate Hugo and his forever dad, Barry
Hugo’s story.
Please welcome #Hugo back into foster.
Hugo was rehomed early May 2025 and all was well initially. His new owners have a wide social circle and are keen UK Motorhome travellers, and they looked forward to having many happy adventures with Hugo by their side.
But sadly Hugo became unsettled and we feel it might be the stimulation and anticipation of new locations and this manifested itself into lunging at dogs and trying to fight some of them
After discussions it was felt that it wasn’t fair on Hugo to carry on in his new home and on Monday, Foster Volunteer, Wayne Crake collected Hugo
Hugo will be fostered by Wayne in the North East and we want to thank him for stepping in at short notice and helping us
Hugo is doing well in himself. He will have a vet check in the next few days as his skin is sore and his eyes are sore and weeping so we need to get some treatment sorted for him and see how his behaviour is over the new few weeks before he is ready for adoption.
So welcome back Hugo, we will get you sorted sweetheart
A little of Hugo’s story below,
Hugo
Please join us in welcoming 4-year entire boy Hugo into our Springboard family
Hugo has been a much-loved member of a family since he was a puppy, but sadly his owner’s situation has changed and his is spending very long periods alone
His owner reached out to us to see if we could take him and earlier today, Danielle Cound kindly collected Hugo for us.
Thank you, Danielle, for collecting Hugo for us, and we really appreciate you taking Hugo into your home for assessment
Hugo has met the resident dogs (Pugs George and Archie, Chihuahua Pepe and Labrador Oscar), and they all appear to be getting along well so far, but like we always say, slow, steady and supervised interactions make for a successful transition for foster dog coming into a new environment.
Hugo is understandably super excited to be in the company of other dogs after spending so much time alone, so we think he is going to thoroughly enjoy the company of being in a pack… his FM is already calling him ‘Hugo the Hurricane’
Hugo has had cherry eye surgery a few years ago, and he has a skin allergy which we will be treating with a different diet and medicated shampoo while he waits to get his vet check
So, lets welcome this little boy into foster and we are looking forward to following him on his Springboard journey with us
