A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Maggie is a gentle, timid soul who finds the outside world a little overwhelming. Despite her nerves, she blossoms in the presence of people she trusts seeking out affection and offering her love in return. She’s a true smiler, always eager to please, and her calm, relaxed nature makes her a joy to be around.
Maggie thrives on physical affection and would happily spend all day curled up beside her humans, soaking up cuddles and strokes. She’s not just looking for a home she’s looking for a heart to belong to.
Behaviour:
Maggie is a bright and affectionate dog who thrives on human companionship and physical affection she absolutely adores being cuddled and stroked. She responds well to clear guidance, understands a wide range of commands, and is eager to please her people.
Maggie does display resource guarding behaviours around food and toys. If placed in a home with another dog, it’s essential that they are fed separately and only given toys when safely apart to avoid conflict. She enjoys playing with her toys independently and, at this stage, doesn’t fully understand interactive play with humans.
With consistent boundaries, ongoing support, and a family who respects her needs, Maggie has every potential to flourish into a confident and loving companion.
Maggie currently shares her foster home with a resident tortoise and shows no signs of concern or reactivity toward him.
Needs:
Maggie is looking for a calm yet active home where she can be included in daily life and gently supported as she continues to build confidence. Her ideal family will be committed to ongoing training, setting clear boundaries, and helping her feel safe and secure through consistent, positive reinforcement.
Due to her resource guarding behaviours around food and toys, Maggie will not be rehomed with children under the age of 10. Any children in the home must be old enough to understand the importance of respecting her space and not attempting to take items from her.
A secure garden is essential to give Maggie space to explore and relax. She can live happily alongside a calm, well-balanced male dog with no history of guarding behaviours, or she’d be equally content as the only dog in the home.
With the right environment and patient guidance, Maggie will thrive and become a loyal, loving companion.
Walk/exercise:
Maggie is gradually gaining confidence on her walks. She responds well when accompanied by the resident male dog, displaying calm and cooperative behaviour. However, when walked alone, she can become anxious and uncertain, which may result in barking and lunging at unfamiliar dogs.
Maggie will benefit from ongoing support and consistent training to help her build confidence and develop appropriate social behaviours.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Maggie is a good girl.
Travel:
Maggie travels well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
Things to be aware of:
Maggie will be rehomed on a “to be spayed” contract. She will be recalled in November to undergo her spay, at a vet of the charities choosing and costs covered by the charity.
Maggie will not be rehomed with any entire dogs.
With Maggies resource guarding children must not be allowed to take toys or food/treats from Maggie.
Sometimes Maggie is excited to greet you but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Maggie’s foster family:

A little of Maggie’s story.
Please welcome Maggie into the arms of our Springboard family, another little lady who was dumped on the streets
Maggie is a 2 year old girl who we think has been bred from before being discarded…!!
Maggie was in kennels for a while before being rehomed directly from there, but sadly the resident dog was not happy about having a new dog to share his humans with and he started attacking her leaving her with a wound on her face which is now a hotspot.
So sadly, Maggie found herself back in the kennels and that’s when we offered to take her.
Yesterday Tashy collected Maggie for us, and she will be fostering her in the North East.
We want to extend our thanks to Tashy for offering to take Maggie into her home and for dropping everything to collect her for us, we are very grateful to her for giving Maggie a chance
Once Tashy was back, she was able to take a good look at Maggie.
Maggie is thin and she has various bald spots on her legs and what looks like a growth of skin tags on the top of her tail which has resulted in baldness
Resident GBSR adopted boy #Buster was excited to have a new friend in the house, but Maggie needs time to decompress, and Tashy is keeping intro’s little and often.
Maggie will be in sensory overload because of so many changes in her life in such a short period of time, she has experienced way too much already so we don’t expect her to be best buddies with Buster overnight
Maggie had a settled night with no accidents, and we have started her on a nutritious diet to help her start gaining weight.
She will need her vet check, and we can discuss her spay which won’t be immediate as she is just coming out of her season.
So please join us in wishing Maggie the very best on her Springboard journey with us and we are looking forward to seeing her decompress and start to trust she is never going to be treated like trash ever again.
