Martha – In Foster – Yorkshire & Humberside

Welcome Martha to the Geordie Bullies family.

Martha was very sadly found as a stray, roaming the streets all alone in the cold, wet weather Thankfully, Martha was found and taken to the kennels to complete the standard 7-day hold. Sadly, as usual, her owners couldn’t be located and nobody came forward to take her home.

As soon as her 7-day hold was over, our fabulous volunteer Sarah collected Martha and brought her home to warmth and safety, providing a safe haven for the night.

The following day, Martha made the move to her permanent foster home to join her foster mum, Brenda. Martha is settling in well and has been working on getting her foster family wrapped around her little paws. Due to Martha being a stray, we don’t have any medical history for her, but weighing a tiny 13kg, she is incredibly underweight after starving on the streets.

As with all of our foster dogs, Martha was booked in at the vets next week for a full health check — however, today she gave us all a fright by having a lot of blood in her stools.

Thankfully, Brenda jumped straight into action and rushed Martha to the vets for an emergency appointment After a thorough check-over, the vet was happy that Martha is doing well and reassured us that the blood in her stools is nothing overly concerning. Martha has been given antibiotics and a prebiotic to help settle her stomach, and she is happy in herself, which is always a good sign.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Sarah for collecting Martha and bringing her to safety, and to Brenda for opening your heart and home to Martha when she needs someone the most.

Any applications submitted at this stage will be void and removed from our database.
