A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Meera is an incredibly loving, gentle‑natured girl with a soft, placid temperament. She adores cuddles, quiet company, and long, peaceful naps, and she has a way of making anyone near her feel calm and cherished. She can be a little stubborn with commands at times, but it’s all part of her sweet, steady personality.

Meera is a sensitive soul, and she can become nervous in larger groups or when people stand over her, sometimes cowering if she feels overwhelmed. Fast or loud introductions can also worry her, so she thrives with calm, patient people who give her the space and reassurance she needs to feel safe.

Despite her gentle nature, Meera absolutely loves going for a walk and enjoys exploring the world at her own pace. With kindness, understanding, and a quiet environment, she blossoms into the affectionate, loyal companion she truly is.

Behaviour:

Meera is a wonderfully sweet girl with a gentle heart and a personality that shines in her own unique way. She can be stubborn at times and likes to do things on her own terms, but she absolutely understands what’s being asked of her.

Because of her past, Meera can growl if she has something she doesn’t want to give up, and she may guard high‑value treats or her food bowl. This behaviour comes from a history of being starved, and although she still guards her bowl when food is being taken away, she is already improving with gentle, consistent reassurance.

She is a typical bulldog in the way she plays lots of mouthing and little nibbles, especially when she’s having her tummy rubbed or being silly. It’s always very soft and gentle, never with any intention to harm. Recently she’s even started doing zoomies, though they’re short and sweet before she settles back down for cuddles, which she loves.

Meera isn’t rough; she’s simply excitable and full of personality. With understanding, patience, and love, she continues to grow in confidence every day.

Needs:

Meera is a sensitive, loving soul who needs a home that reflects the calm, gentle energy she carries within herself. She would be absolutely fine with children over the age of 10 who can understand her quiet nature and give her the space she needs to feel safe.

Due to her past, a crate would not be suitable for her. But she will need an area where she can relax and have her own space.

A peaceful, steady household would suit Meera best, as she thrives in an environment where she can relax, cuddle, and feel secure. For this reason, she would be happiest as the only dog in the house. While she enjoys the company of other dogs in short bursts, she can become impatient if she’s around them for too long, so regular play dates would be perfect for her.

Meera needs a family who has the time, patience, and emotional space to give her the companionship she craves. She would not cope well in a home where she is left alone for long periods or where people are out at work all day. She also needs someone physically strong enough to hold her securely on walks, as she can lurch if one of her triggers appears.

Despite her calm nature, Meera loves getting out and about. She would thrive with a family who enjoys walks, visiting coffee shops, going out for lunch, and gentle socialising. With the right people patient, loving, and present Meera will blossom into the affectionate, loyal companion she longs to be.

Walk/exercise:

Meera has made wonderful progress with her walking, and she now gives lots of eye contact and walks beautifully to heel. She remains on a short lead because, every so often, she can suddenly dart sideways into the road or across my path if a person or car catches her attention.

She is much calmer and more confident in open spaces, where she relaxes and walks with ease. In busier areas, especially where there are lots of people, dogs, or birds, she can become fixated on the distraction and completely tune me out. When this happens, treats or talking won’t bring her focus back, so I gently stop, step in front of her, and wait for her to reconnect through eye contact before continuing.

Meera is naturally inquisitive with other dogs and loves to investigate. She is friendly, gentle, and has shown no signs of aggression. In the beginning she would sometimes cower, but that has stopped now. If another dog snaps or behaves aggressively, she doesn’t react or defend herself she simply slinks away quietly.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Meera is a good girl, however, may have the occasional accident in the settling in period.

She does panic though if the door is shut on her. She needs to know that she can get back in.

Travel:

Meera loves to travel; she prefers to be up where she can watch out of the window.

Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Meera has Cherry eye that pops out occasionally this can be massaged in with ease.

Due to Meera’s past Food guarding is an issue her family will need to understand her needs and how to manage it.

Meera is on a fully hydrolysed diet due to allergies and her extremely delicate stomach. She must stay on this diet.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Meera foster family:

I purr when I’m being stroked.

I love my tummy tickled, that makes me smile a lot.

I love doing zoomies when my FM comes home then plonking straight down on her lap for a cuddle and a big old face lick.

If I could sit on your lap all day I would.

She has been through so much, and she truly deserves to be the queen of her home the centre of her family’s love and attention.

Meera’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Meera’s story.

CRUELTY WARNING:

The following post contains images of neglect and injury that some may find upsetting

Sometimes it’s hard to understand how humans — the very beings meant to protect and cherish — can inflict such pain on a soul so innocent.
But Meera’s story is also a reminder that for every cruel hand, there are many gentle ones ready to heal, hold, and help her start again

Thanks to the kindness of strangers, rescuers, and volunteers, she’s learning that not all humans hurt — some exist purely to love.

Please read on knowing that Meera is now safe, loved, and beginning her journey to healing

Welcome to the GBSR Family, Meera

Please join us in welcoming sweet #Meera into the loving arms of the Geordie Bullies Springboard Rescue family

Meera is only around 2–3 years old, yet she has already endured more pain and sadness than any soul ever should

Due to the sensitivity of her past, we can’t share all the heartbreaking details of how she came into the care of the council dog warden — but what truly matters is this: Meera is now safe, and from this day forward, she will only know kindness, comfort, and love

When she was found, Meera was living in a tiny crate, starved, neglected, and surrounded by her own waste

A compassionate member of the kennel team took her in, beginning her journey to recovery while searching for a rescue that could offer her a second chance. And when Meera’s story reached us, there was no hesitation — we knew we couldn’t turn away a dog who so desperately needed us

Within just 24 hours of agreeing to take her, our incredible team of volunteers had rallied together to make it happen.

A huge heartfelt thank you to Georgia, Leah, Simon, and Kelly for safely transporting our precious girl from the Midlands to her foster home in the South East

Meera arrived at her foster home with Sarah on Wednesday evening. As expected, she’s frightened and timid — reacting to dogs and people outside, and still having a few accidents indoors. This is all part of her decompression journey, and we know that with patience and love, she’ll start to heal

Yesterday, Meera visited the vets for a full health check, vaccinations, and microchipping. Thankfully, there are no major medical concerns, but she is extremely underweight and bears what appear to be cigarette burns on her legs
