A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Merlin is a happy and playful young boy.

Merlin’s affectionate nature with his cheeky charisma make him a fantastic family member.

Merlin adores his humans and will shower them with love and affection.

Behaviour:

Merlin has learned his basic commands and boundaries.

He loves toys the squeakier the better, although in typical bulldog fashion they don’t last too long.

Needs:

Merlin needs an active family, able to continue his training and helping him reach his full potential.

A garden is a must for this playful boy.

Merlin will benefit from a laid-back and playful companion.

Walk/exercise:

Merlin loves his walks; he walks very well on lead but will pull if he see’s a leaf pile to investigate.

Merlin walks well alone and in company, he prefers to explore the environment than interact with unfamiliar dogs.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Merlin is a very good boy.

Travel:

Merlin travels very well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Merlin can have the occasional idiopathic head tremor.

Sometimes Merlin is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Merlin has been a pleasure to have in foster, his affectionate and playful nature has been a joy to watch develop. Merlin is a genuine young boy that any family would be lucky to adopt.

Merlin’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Merlin’s story below,

Welcome Merlin

Merlin is an entire male of approx. 2 years old.

We were contacted by the local dog warden asking if we could help him.

Merlin was found wandering the streets terrified, hungry and filthy, and it was no surprise that his microchip isn’t registered..!!!

Huge thank you to Mark and Lisa for coming to Merlin’s aid, collecting him from the kennels, and starting his journey to his foster home.

Merlin is currently in foster with Aimee Hullah and her family in the Northwest.

Merlin is slowly getting to know his new foster Bro Ted.

We hadn’t even had a chance to announce him on our social media when Merlin gave his foster mum and us a fright.

Aimee was extremely concerned about Merlin 2 days after he came into foster.

He was suddenly coughing up white foam, was extremely lethargic, and just not the happy bouncy boy that arrived to them earlier this week.

It was imperative that we got him to a vet urgently as we suspected Aspiration.

We called Vets4Pets Bradford, and both Crossley Hall & Bradford Road clinics explaining the situation and that we were concerned that Merlin had aspirated.

It was an emergency Merlin needed medical intervention straight away but neither vets would take him and wouldn’t see him as a one-off either!!

Shockingly, neither vet was interested in a potential life-threatening situation!!

Disappointed doesn’t quite express our feelings of a professional veterinary practice that refused to take an emergency. Leaving us to search further afield.

Huge thank you to Vets4Pets Keighley for taking Merlin so quickly and making sure our boy got the help he so desperately needed.

Merlin has Kennel cough and a secondary chest infection. There has been a particular unforgiving strain of kennel cough throughout kennels, over the last few weeks, it has sadly cost many dogs their lives.

This poor boy’s skin is in terrible condition as well.

So, treatment has started immediately but Merlin also has snapped upper and lower Canine teeth which is going to require surgery to remove.

Very sadly, this type of dental surgery is not straightforward, and it will not be an easy fix for our poorly boy.

Merlin has nothing to call his own If you would like to donate towards his treatment, surgery, and essential items, our donation details are below

We are always forever grateful for your continued support without you, many more dogs like Merlin would be left abandoned on our streets.
