A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Mia is the epitome of a companion dog; she just loves to be with you at all times.

Mia’s gentle and affectionate nature will have her seeking her person out for all the attention and affection they will give.

Mia will also seek the company of a calm dog in the home.

Behaviour:

Mia is slowly coming out of her shell and learning to play with her doggy companions and foster family. This will continue to thrive with gentle reassurance from her family.

Mia isn’t really a fan of rough play; she is a gentle soul.

Mia has been learning her basic commands whilst in foster. This training will need to continue in her new home and will help strengthen the bond between Mia and her new family.

Needs:

Mia needs a calm but active family environment with a family ready to encourage her training and help her reach her full potential.

Mia is a human’s dog and needs their company so isn’t suited to a family who are out of the home for long periods of time.

Mia would ideally be re homed with a laid-back dog companion in the home, to bond with and keep company when her humans are away.

A garden to explore and play in is a must for Mia.

Walk/exercise

Mia likes going on walks and will happily plod along at her own pace, she isn’t really one to explore and prefers to stay next to her humans.

Mia will happily meet other dogs on a walk and is very friendly towards them.

Mia uses a harness for her walks and has no issues with having it put on or taken off.

Toilet trained:

Mia will need a bit more training in this area so will need lots of praise, encouragement and a good toilet training routine. She has been making progress recently.

Mia’s recent infections and season has contributed to her toileting issues.

Travel:

Mia travels really well and loves being in the car, because of this we would consider homes up to four hours away.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Mia has had tail pocket surgery due to previously untreated infections so won’t be re homed until she has had all clear from the vets.

Mia has also had Entropion surgery so may require ongoing eyedrops.

Mia will be going home on a spay contract, to be completed at a vet agreed with the charity, costs to be covered by the charity.

Sometimes Mia is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Mia is everything you would ask for in an affectionate, playful and loving bulldog.

Mia is a well-rounded girl who would suit a calm and patient family home and a doggie companion. Any family lucky enough to adopt her will be truly blessed.

Mia’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Mia’s story below,

Mia

Please welcome 5 year old Mia into the arms of our Springboard Family.

We were contacted as a matter of urgency by Mia’s owner to see if we could take her without delay.
The owner had separated from her husband, and he had kept Mia, but his behaviour towards her was negligent as she has a deep untreated tail pocket infection (we will spare you the photos), and the owner found out that she was being hit.

Sadly, she was not able to keep Mia but had taken her out of the situation and was now desperate to get Mia safe.

We put a shout out to our fosters to see who could get Mia ASAP and a road train was quickly enabled to get Mia to us.

We want to thank Kirsty White for collecting Mia for us and starting her on her travels.
The journey was a long one due to the driving conditions, so we want to thank you for making it happen and helping Mia get to into foster.

Katie Stockman collected Mia from Kirsty for the 2nd part of her journey and she is fostering her for us in the Midlands.

Considering what she has been through, Mia is the happiest little girl. She has met the resident boys, Bear and Thunder and all is going well with them.
She came with a face mask around her back end because of the state of her tail pocket but she hasn’t stopped wiggling her bum since she arrived.

Katie was able to get a vet appointment first thing this morning and this little girl now has meds for the dripping infection from her tail pocket. She also has entropion, a deep untreated eye ulcer and a hernia poor love.

Thank you, Katie, for taking Mia into foster for us, we are very grateful to you for stepping in so soon after losing Rocky, we know it’s not been easy.
So welcome little Mia, your Springboard journey starts here we promise.
