A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Molly is a calm, affectionate and wonderfully lovable girl who has shown great resilience despite all she has been through.

She enjoys plenty of cosy naps in true bulldog style, but is equally happy stretching her legs on a walk or joining her family for a car journey especially when it leads to a coffee shop.

At home, she is responsive and eager to please, showing off her lovely manners by sitting, giving her paw, lying down and rolling over for a much-loved belly rub.

Molly adores fuss and companionship, and although she can become excited when play is lively, she is happiest in a calm, reassuring home where she can feel safe, settle at her own pace and enjoy being part of family life.

Behaviour:

Molly is calm and responsive in the home, where she listens well to familiar commands. When out on walks, the sights and sounds around her can be distracting, and her recall is still a work in progress.

Molly knows several lovely cues: she can sit, give her paw and lie down. When asked to go “on your back”, she will happily roll over and offer her belly for a fuss.

Molly waits patiently for her food.

Molly can be unsettled by fireworks and other loud household noises, including the vacuum cleaner and a running shower. A calm, reassuring environment will help her feel safe when these sounds occur.

Molly has chased the resident cat on a couple of occasions, appearing particularly curious about its long tail. Any introductions to cats should therefore be calm, gradual and carefully supervised.

Molly is generally very good with the children. When play becomes noisy or energetic, she can become excited and eager to join in, so calm supervision will help everyone enjoy their time together safely.

Needs:

Molly is looking for a calm, loving family who can fully commit to her ongoing care. She would thrive in a home where she is not left alone for long periods and can be included in the gentle rhythm of everyday family life.

A secure garden is essential for Molly, giving her a safe space to enjoy the outdoors she loves.

Molly will need to be the only dog in her new home, where she can enjoy her family’s full attention and feel safe and settled.

Walk/exercise:

Annie enjoys her walks and often sets off at a brisk pace, so she can be strong on the lead. At other times, she prefers to take things more slowly and may pause briefly to catch her breath or take in her surroundings. She feels most comfortable on familiar routes.

When approached by other dogs, Annie is anxious she may initially cower or adopt a submissive posture, but she can nip if a dog comes too close. She can show a similar uncertainty when meeting people, so introductions should be calm and unhurried, allowing her to approach and enjoy affection when she feels ready.

Her road-safety skills are still developing, however, and she does not yet reliably wait before crossing roads while out on walks.

Toilet trained:

Yes, Molly is a good girl. Molly doesn’t bark to indicate her need to go outdoors, she will stand at the door to ask to go out.

Travel:

Molly enjoys to travel, she will settle and sleep where she is comfortable. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Molly will be adopted under a spaying agreement. The procedure will be carried out by a vet chosen by the charity, with all costs covered by the charity.

Molly has both food and environmental allergies, which are carefully managed through a strict diet and medication. She currently takes Zenrelia and follows a fully hydrolysed Purina Hypoallergenic diet. To support her health and wellbeing, she will need to remain on this medication and diet.

Molly will also need regular baths using a specific medicated shampoo to help keep her comfortable and support her skin health.

Molly has severe dry eye, which is managed with tacrolimus and regular lubricating eye drops. This care must remain part of her daily routine, alongside regular veterinary check-ups to monitor her eye health.

Any potential adopter will need to understand that Molly’s conditions are lifelong and be prepared to take responsibility for the ongoing financial costs of her care. In return, they will be helping her enjoy the comfort, stability and quality of life she deserves.

Sometimes Molly is excited to play but don’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as they have the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Molly’s foster family:

Annie has been the most incredible companion in our first foster experience. She has captured our hearts and it is bittersweet we will not have her in our lives.

Molly’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Molly’s story

We have a beautiful girl to introduce to you all…

This is Molly.

Molly came into our care after her owner made the difficult decision to surrender her, as they could no longer meet her needs. We are always grateful when people reach out for help, because it gives dogs like Molly a chance at the life they deserve.

But nothing could have prepared us for the condition this sweet girl arrived in. The moment we saw her, our hearts sank. Molly has clearly been suffering for a very long time. Looking at the extent of her medical issues, it is hard to imagine just how uncomfortable, sore and exhausted she must have been every single day. Her eyes are painfully infected. She is suffering from dry eye and requires entropion surgery on both eyes. Every blink is likely uncomfortable, yet despite it all, she still looks at us with nothing but trust. And sadly, that’s not where her suffering ends. Molly is also battling a severe skin infection caused by allergies, along with excessive skin folds around her neck and body that have left her skin inflamed and irritated. Her little body has been crying out for help for far too long.

Yet somehow, despite everything she has endured, Molly has not given up. Behind the infections, the discomfort and the neglect is the most wonderful girl. She greets us with a wagging tail, seeks affection from everyone she meets, and still finds moments to be playful.

The resilience dogs show never ceases to amaze us. Right now, our focus is on giving Molly the relief she so desperately needs. She has started medicated baths, steroids, antibiotics and eye treatments to begin tackling the infections that have been making her life miserable. Once she is stronger and her infections are under control, she will undergo the surgeries she needs to finally give her comfort and a chance to heal. There is still a long road ahead for Molly, but for the first time in a long time, she doesn’t have to walk it alone.

We can’t change what this sweet girl has already been through. We can’t give her back the months—possibly years—she has spent living in discomfort. But what we can do is make sure her future looks very different from her past. Molly, we are so sorry that help didn’t come sooner. We wish we were welcoming you into rescue under happier circumstances, but from this day forward, you will be loved, protected and cared for every step of the way.

Our promise to you, beautiful girl, is simple: The rest of your life starts now.

Please join us in giving Molly a very warm welcome to the Geordie Bullies family.

Please note that Molly has only just arrived in foster and is not available for adoption. Applications are not open at this time, so please don’t attempt to apply for her just yet. We’ll share her adoption poster once she’s reached the end of her assessment period.
