A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Odie is the ultimate companion; he absolutely adores his humans.

Odie isn’t shy; he’s outgoing and full of energy.

And in typical bulldog fashion Odie loves a good nap, he knows how to unwind and recharge.

Behaviour:

Odie’s mischievous side comes out when he tries to steal things from the kitchen, since changing his diet this has greatly improved.

Odie can take time working out relationship dynamics with other dogs, but the right introductions time and support he will settle and feel confident in his new family.

Odie expresses himself through barking and crying, especially when faced with loud noises. But once reassured, he settles down quickly.

Odie is easily over stimulated by young children and all the noise that comes along with them, this boy hasn’t a malicious bone in his body, he just has no idea how to react or behave around them.

Needs:

Odie needs an active family environment, with a family who can put in the time to train him and put boundaries in place.

Older 12+ children only

Odie will benefit from a calm and laid-back female bulldog in the home, who can keep him company when his humans are away. Introductions will be very important and should be done slowly and controlled.

Or Odie will do well as an only dog.

A garden is a must for this boy, he adores the outdoors.

Walk/exercise:

Odie loves his walks; he walks very well on his own and with his foster sister.

He may pull initially, but soon settles into his walk and taking in his environment.

He can be vocal towards unfamiliar dogs but is easily distracted away.

Toilet trained:

Odie is a very good boy.

Can be left:

Odie may cry and bark for a couple of minutes but soon settles down and will go to sleep. He can be left for up to 4hours at a time.

Travel:

Odie travels very well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4hours away from his current location.

Things to be aware of:

Odie can’t be rehomed with any young children and must be kept separately from any young children visiting.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Odie is an incredible boy with the biggest bulldog heart. Sadly, his early years were very sheltered and left him at a disadvantage. But what this boy lacks in understanding he truly makes up for in love and loyalty and will truly make the most amazing addition to the right family.

Odie’s adoption donation fee is £400 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

A little of Odie’s story below,

Please welcome our very handsome Odie back to his GBSR family!!

I WILL START WITH THIS, NO JUDGEMENT, RUDE, OR NASTY COMMENTS WILL BE TOLLERATED. YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUP.

5-year-old Odie was adopted 3 years ago by a family who adore him. But sadly, some things just aren’t meant to last forever.

Odie is a big boisterous boy, with not a bad bone in his body. But children are his kryptonite, Odie is very over stimulated by children which given his size can terrify them and with no malice he can barge them over.

His family have tried to work with him, to teach him to be gentle and calm, but this bulldozer of a boy just doesn’t understand. So he could not be allowed around small children, as you can imagine this has been so hard for all involved.

Odie’s family have a tiny brand-new baby, they worked so hard with Odie, so he wasn’t over stimulated by time their precious new family member arrived but nothing they did helped. So, over the last week poor Odie was kept separate in the home, breaking their hearts and his.

It wasn’t fair on anyone, so they asked us to take Odie back into the loving arms of GBSR.

It is ours and owners’ responsibilities to prevent and protect both our dogs and others from accidents waiting to happen.

Odie is with our lovely new foster Holly and family in the South West, he is very confused and unsure of himself but they are taking everything slowly and he is being such a good boy.

Welcome home Odie, you will always have family in us and we will find your happy ever after.

To Odie’s family, thank you for loving him so much and doing everything to give him the very best life. Sometimes we are only meant to be a small part of their journey, but please remember no matter how small a part, it was it was just as important as the rest.

A little of Odie’s previous journey below,

Odie is a very loving young boy who came into foster as a boisterous lad with no manners. He adores people and wants to be a part of everything. Snoozes are for losers in Odies’s world.

He loves rough play but never oversteps the mark or gets mouthy, he just enjoys the interaction.

Toys are essential to Odie with balls being his favourite and he has learned to share with the resident Pug, Bella.

Odie really enjoys going on walks and having playtime and interaction with other dogs. His foster mum uses a collar and harness with 2 leads because he pulls to get going, he is a strong boy.

Dogs Name: Odie

Age: 2 years old

Can live with children: Yes

Can live with dogs: Yes, he can be rehomed with a friendly but dominant female dog that will put him in his place

Can live with cats: Untested

Current location: West Midlands

Things to be Aware of:

When Odie came into foster, he had been used to a certain amount of dominance in his previous home. He isn’t aggressive but he clearly thought he was top dog and tested Bella.  This was soon sorted with a bottle of stones shaken every time he wanted to dominate her. Now she is able to put Odie in his place if he tries it on and he lives with her very happily.

He doesn’t like small yappy dogs in his face and will have a grumble about that.

Odie can push himself around a bit when playing with other dogs, but he soon backs down if he is told off.

Face and ear cleaning is not high on Odie’s agenda, and he makes like a starfish if you want to lift him into the bath.

And he has a habit of jumping up. He will jump up at people to say hello and at kitchen units to see what’s there, he can even jump up onto a table…. this requires more training.

The Ideal Family:

One word, active.

This boy in very energetic and he would suit an active family that will involve him in lots of walks and adventures. He needs at least 2 good walks a day where he can burn off some of his energy.

He still throws himself about like an overgrown puppy sometimes so care would be needed with any young children as he doesn’t realise his own size.

Other comments:

Odie came to us as an unruly young boy that needed boundaries and his foster mum has done a very good job training him with basic manners and commands. He is young and he wants to learn so his new family will need to take this into consideration as he needs ongoing training, especially with jumping up.

Given that he is high energy and requires further training he is also very adorable & loving and with the right home he will be a fantastic family pet.

Odie is neutered, toilet trained and travels well once he gets into the car so we will consider a new home up to 4 hours from his current location in Worcestershire.

If you have any questions, please ask Heather Chew foster mum to Odie

Odie’s adoption fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.
