Reginald – Now Adopted!

We are very pleased to announce that Reginald is home!

Reginald came into foster back in July after his owners’ work commitments changed.

Reginald was welcomed into foster by Adam and Melissa and their children Esme and Harry and their pooches.

Reginald settled very well in his foster home and flourished with his foster parents’ love and care.

Reginald was adopted recently but heartbreakingly; our little boy wasn’t accepted by that family’s resident dogs, so he was returned to our care.

Reginald’s foster Dad Adam went and collected him straight away. He had only been gone for 2 days.

Reginald settled straight back into foster family life, and it was like he had never left.

We were mindful that Reginald may have already decided he had found his new forever slaves in Adam and Melissa, and we didn’t want to risk another failed rehoming for Reginald, so we were absolutely thrilled when Adam and Melissa asked if they could adopt him.

We said yes immediately as we knew this was in Reginald’s best interests.

So will you please join us in congratulating Adam and Melissa on their beautiful boy.

You have done Reginald proud, and we will be forever grateful to you for loving our gorgeous boy.

To Reginald, your new life starts here. No more moving around for you. You now have your forever home where you will be treated like the Prince you deserve.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Reginald is a wonderfully well-balanced boy, he has a beautiful, affectionate and playful nature, with humans and dogs alike.

Reginald adores adults and children always wanting to be at your side.

Behaviour:

Reginald is a submissive boy; he can be very playful but responds very well to being told no by the other dogs in the home and he will seek his human for reassurance.

Reginald loves a bit of rough play, again is responsive when being told enough and settles quickly.

In typical bulldog fashion, he does have the occasional stubborn moments.

Needs:

Reginald is suited to the majority of home environments, but he will thrive in an active family home, with children and a resident dog to keep him company.

A garden is a must as he loves nothing more than sunbathing.

Reginald will benefit from a laid-back and playful dog in the home to teach him the ropes and to keep him company when his humans are away.

Walk/exercise:

Reginald loves his walks; he walks very well alone, or he is happy to walk alongside other dogs in a pack.

Reginald isn’t interested in unfamiliar dogs whilst out but is happy to be approached he will simply ignore them and walk away.

Reginald does struggle with exercise in the heat, so it is imperative that he isn’t walked for any longer than 10mins a day and only in the coolest time of day.

Toilet trained:

Reginald is a very good boy.

Travel:

Reginald travels very well,

Things to be aware of:

Reginald may need BOAS surgery in the future this will be the financial responsibility of his new family. It is important that Reginald’s weight is controlled, and he isn’t allowed to become overweight or obese as this will exacerbate his breathing issues.

Reginald is being neutered on the 5th of September, once he has healed, he will be ready to go home which is usually around 10 days after surgery.

Sometimes Reginald is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Reginald has stolen the hearts of the whole of GBSR’s team. This well rounded, stubborn amazing boy is everything you could ever want from a bulldog. If you are looking for that missing piece of the puzzle? Look no further as Reginald is the dog for you!!

A little of Reginald’s story below,

Please welcome the very handsome #Regnald to our GBSR family!!

#Reginald is a 3-year-old entire male and joins us after his owners’ working commitments changed and they felt he was becoming neglected. It was a heartbreaking decision but one they felt was right for him.

Welcome Adam Dabin and his family to his first foster journey with us, hopefully it is one of many. Reginald is in foster in the South East and is settling very well.

Reginald is an absolute sweetheart that adores Adams children, Miss Poppy the queen is keeping a close eye on him and making sure she knows she’s top dog. I think Reginald might have a crush.

Reginald is in good body condition, he’s got a few issues with yeast on his skin, especially around his eyes, nose rope and paws from being on the wrong diet. And in typical bulldog fashion hasn’t coped very well with the heat. But with a little TLC, the right diet and elbow grease he is going to come along beautifully.

He will be seeing our vet for a full health check to make sure he’s in tip top condition and as always to rule out any possible health issues, because they like to sneak up on us occasionally.

Well Reginald welcome to our GBSR family we can’t wait to watch your many adventures unfold.
