A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Teddy is incredibly loving, soft‑natured, and exceptionally gentle. He can be a little stubborn at times—once he decides he’s not moving, it’s difficult to persuade him otherwise. He isn’t a lively dog, but he does get excited when greeting familiar people or welcoming new visitors into the home. Overall, he is a very relaxed, easy‑going dog with a wonderfully gentle temperament, except when interacting with other dogs.
Teddy enjoys sitting in the sun and watching the world go by. He may also bark at strangers to encourage them to come over and give him some affection. He thrives on human contact and will often whine gently to seek closeness.
Behaviour:
Teddy is a playful boy who enjoys short play sessions, particularly with his football and chew toys. He loves a game of fetch and will happily drop his toy when asked. He’s very affectionate and seeks out human touch, enjoying lots of strokes and attention. Teddy has been wonderful with children—he doesn’t jump up, he lets them stroke him, and he has shown no signs of aggression. He will sometimes bark to get people’s attention, and his bark can sound quite loud and booming. He’s also familiar with his basic commands.
Needs:
Teddy will thrive in an active family environment where he can be included in everyday life. His new family must be committed to meeting his exercise needs and supporting him as he continues to build healthy habits. An understanding of bulldog husbandry is essential to ensure his ongoing wellbeing.
Teddy will need access to a secure garden where he can relax and play. His family should also be prepared to continue his training, particularly around helping him learn appropriate interactions with other dogs outside the home.
Teddy is looking for a home where he will be the only dog.
Walk/exercise:
Teddy thrives on his walks, and maintaining a daily walking schedule will be key to supporting his weight‑loss goals. His limited early socialisation has shaped the way he approaches other dogs; he often rushes in with typical bulldog exuberance, which can sometimes create conflict. However, his attempts at play are never aggressive—he’s genuinely good‑natured and means no harm.
Toilet trained:
Teddy is a good boy. He is excellently house trained, however he may have the odd accident initially as he settles which is to be expected in a new environment.
Travel:
Teddy generally settles nicely in the car, though he does pant occasionally. Interestingly, the panting starts as soon as I put his harness on at home, which suggests it isn’t specifically due to car-related stress.
However due to his weight and the risk of him over heating we will only accept applications of up to 2 hours from his current location
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Teddy is currently on a controlled diet to lose weight and due to allergies. He must stay on his current kibble Purina hypoallergenic, and his adopted family must continue to work with us to continue his weight loss.
Teddy may require BOAS surgery in the future this will be the responsibility of his adopted family.
Teddy is prone to yeast build up, he will need his nose roll, tail pocket and paws washed every other day. Three times a week for his eyes, ears and under his chin.
Sometimes Teddy is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as Teddy doesn’t tend to jump, however he could knock children over due to his size.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information from Teddy’s foster family:
I am just like my name, a big, beautiful cuddly Teddy Bear. I win everyone’s hearts with my gesture of a paw before I’m even asked to give it.
Teddy’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Teddy’s story.
Teddy has very sadly been surrendered to us after his owner was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer manage his care alongside her own — something we completely understand. Our thoughts are very much with her at this difficult time.
Poor Teddy has had his whole world turned upside down, but we are so grateful that we were able to step in and support him. On Sunday, Ian collected Teddy from his owner and transported him to Holly, who then carried him the rest of the journey to meet his wonderful foster mum, Sarah, in the South West of England.
A huge thank you to everyone involved for ensuring Teddy was moved quickly and compassionately, without causing any additional stress to either him or his owner.
Teddy is now settling in with the lovely Sarah, who has kindly opened her home once again to give him a safe and peaceful space to decompress.
Thank you, Sarah, for stepping forward and offering Teddy the comfort and security he needs.
Teddy is a 4-year-old neutered male who is already showing just how loving and affectionate he is
Please note: Teddy is not yet available for rehoming, and we do not accept expressions of pre-interest. Once he has completed his assessment, his profile will be updated to indicate when applications are open. Any applications submitted before this time will be removed.
