A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Louis is an incredibly curious and sweet natured boy, with a wonderful sense of joy.
Louis is affectionate and playful towards his humans; he is very receptive and eager to please.
Behaviour:
Louis was a stray and ended up in kennels for a long time, but he doesn’t let it hold him back. He is an excitable young boy, he will jump up for attention, and on occasion hump. He is super responsive and stops when told no.
This boy has continued to thrive in foster and is eager to please and learn. With continued strict boundaries and training he will grow into the most incredible companion, never straying too far from your side.
Louis stores his toys, while he won’t let you take them, he shows no aggression or malice at all, as his trust grows for his people this will continue to improve.
Louis came to GBSR underweight he may snatch a treat when offered but he is learning to be patient. Louis will eat his food very quickly but shows no aggression or guarding behaviours towards humans.
While Louis likes to meet dog’s outside of the home, he doesn’t like sharing his home with them and struggles with competition for food, sadly due to his emaciated condition coming into GBSR.
Needs:
Louis needs an active and calm family home, one where he is kept involved with daily family life and adventures.
Louis needs continued training to teach him all his big boy manners and to continue him on his journey to be the amazing boy we all know he is.
Louis is an active boy, so a garden is a must.
Walk/exercise:
Louis loves his walks; he walks very well on the lead and enjoys meeting dogs and people who give him fuss.
Louis will initiate play with dogs he meets and may on occasion hump.
He is non-reactive to other dogs being aggressive towards him, he hasn’t a mean bone in his body.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Louis is a good boy, he will stand at the door when he wants to go out and will also go out when told to.
Can be left:
Louis settles very well and simply takes himself to his bed and naps or keeps himself occupied with his toys.
Louis can be left for up to 4 hours.
Travel:
Louis is excitable in the car; he will settle down and watch out the window. He will need to be restrained with a seatbelt adapter or crated. Once settled he travels very well because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours away.
Things to be aware of:
Louis will need continued training and boundaries in place, to calm his excitable behaviours.
He can jump for attention and in excitement when meeting people, any young children in the home must be supervised, as Louis is a big boy and has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information:
Louis is a charming and funny gentleman; he is so affectionate and loves to be with his humans. He is still on his training journey but it’s his heart and love for joy that will steal yours. His is exactly what we expect from the breed and will be the most amazing addition to anyone lucky enough to adopt him.
A little of Louis’ story below,
Last week we were alerted to a dog needing help in a dog and cat shelter.
So, we did as we always do and reached out to offer him a foster placement to get him out of kennels.
Louis is a 6year old, neutered male.
He had been a stray before finding himself in the shelter in August.
No family came forward to find him and his microchip isn’t registered.
Unfortunately, they had no luck finding him a forever home, and after originally turning down our offer of help we received an email at the beginning of this week asking for us to take Louis into foster.
Thank you, Diane, for jumping into action and collecting Louis so quickly and offering him a home.
Louis has joined Diane in foster in the North West, as you can imagine not in the best of conditions after living in kennels for the past 3months.
Louis was very grubby and terribly smelly and has some bald patches from urine burn.
He enjoyed a lovely shower, Diane informs us that the water was ghastly!!
Louis is underweight and has a few issues we need a vet to check next week.
But he is the sweetest boy, so inquisitive and had lots of fun exploring his new foster home.
Louis is now in foster in the northwest, he had a settled first night, and he will soon be enjoying the comforts of being a GBSR boy in the arms of his Springboard family.
Louis will now have a period of assessment prior to us finding his perfect furever home.
So welcome to your GBSR UK journey beautiful boy, we can’t wait to share it with you.
