Dogs name: Coisty

Age: 4 years old

Current location: Blaydon, Newcastle Upon Tyne

I CAN LIVE WITH

Children: Older teens.

Cats: No.

Dogs: No.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Coisty is a very sensitive soul, who depends on his humans to feel safe and secure.

Once settled in his home Coisty has an easy-going nature and makes the ideal companion.

Coisty is an extremely affectionate boy, who adores his humans

Behaviour:

Coisty struggles with separation anxiety and can become stressed when left alone.

He can be stubborn and determined especially when he doesn’t want to let go of something or do as asked.

Coisty is protective of his humans and prefers them to himself.

Rough play is not encouraged as this can send mix messages.

Needs:

Coisty needs a calm home environment, one where he has human company throughout the day.

A family that can understand his needs and are prepared to give him the time and patience that he needs. A family who can put firm boundaries in place and guide him to understand what is expected of him.

Coisty loves the outdoors so a garden is a must for him.

A child free or family with older teens.

Walk/exercise:

Coisty is a homebody and would happily have minimal walks.

However, it is a must that he does get at least one walk a day.

Coisty ignores other dog’s whilst out and will greet them with a sniff if they approach him. He can lunge if a dog approaches his humans.

Toilet trained:

Coisty is a good boy, he can have accidents when left alone.

Travel:

Coisty can be stressed during travel, it is best that he has someone sat with him to comfort him. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 3 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Coisty has had TPLO surgery on both back legs, which has been successful.

Coisty is on Apoquel medication for environmental and some food allergies.

Coisty is on Reconcile medication to help his anxiety.

Young children over stimulate Coisty, any visiting young children in the home must be supervised, as Coisty has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Coisty’s foster family:

Coisty has had a disruptive life so far and as such, seeks human contact and reassurance. He loves cuddles and is happiest snoozing peacefully with everyone in the same room.

He also loves the garden and will wait for you to join him outside so you can both enjoy the sun together. If he’s relaxed enough, he’ll even take himself out on his own.

Coisty’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Coisty story,

Please welcome Coisty back into the arms of his springboard family

We are devastated to let you know that we have been asked to take Coisty back into foster under our Rescue Back-Up for life policy
This is an extremely sad surrender for Coisty’s family, so no judgement, please.

Coisty was rehomed in February 2024 but due to developing skin issues, he has been returned to us

Coisty is in foster with Alison and Colin in the North East.
Coisty had a very unsettled first night but he is now starting to decompress and greeted his foster parents with the wiggliest of bum wiggles. He is a lovable and stubborn rogue, but with the correct boundaries in place, exercise, and good food, his behaviour and fitness should greatly improve.

Thank you to Colin and Alison for opening your hearts and home to our handsome boy

Coisty is very overweight after having been very much loved and spoilt. After already having two TPLO surgeries on his legs, we are concerned about his weight gain, so the plan is to get some weight off and slowly build up his exercise.

Coisty will be seeing a vet in due course so we can get a handle on his skin issues and start his treatment ASAP.

So please join us in welcoming Coisty back into the arms of his springboard family

Welcome back Coisty your gbsr journey starts again right here
