A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Hallie is a loving, beautiful soul who has so much affection to give. She is the kind of dog who makes you feel cherished simply by being near you. If she had her way, she would spend every moment by your side she is loyal, devoted, and happiest when she can be close to her humans.

She has a wonderfully playful nature, and when placed with the right family and canine companions, Hallie will flourish into the most perfect dog. She can be a little stubborn at times, especially when asked to go into her crate, but her stubbornness melts away after a few minutes of cuddles and belly rubs. She is a girl who responds to love, reassurance, and gentle guidance.

Hallie tries daily to convince you that she belongs on the sofa, using her best puppy‑dog eyes to win you over and she’s very good at it. She is the ultimate snuggly monster, always seeking out physical affection. She will sit at your feet, lean into you, or attempt to climb onto the sofa just to be close. Her soft fur and gentle eyes make her impossible to resist.

Behaviour:

Hallie is a gentle, affectionate girl with a wonderfully expressive nature. She loves being brushed, and her daily grooming routine has become a calm, bonding moment in her foster home.

Hallie communicates her feelings softly. She may chunter or huff if something annoys her, but she has never growled or snapped. Once she has voiced her opinion, she simply takes herself off to lie down a sweet, self‑soothing habit that shows her gentle temperament.

She enjoys rough-and-tumble play with the resident dogs and is wonderfully tolerant and fair. Hallie plays with toys, ropes, teddies, and bones, and she shares beautifully. If another dog takes something she was playing with, she isn’t bothered in the slightest. With humans, she prefers soft, cuddly contact, often rolling onto her back for belly rubs the moment she’s praised or asked for a command.

Hallie follows basic commands such as sit, wait, stop, paw, down, and no. Most commands are met with her signature move rolling onto her back for affection. She is a very good girl in the home, calm, gentle, and trustworthy. Her only behavioural challenge is her reactivity to unfamiliar dogs outdoors, which will need continually managed.

Hallie is also excellent with children. She is soft and gentle with your 12‑year‑olds and even rolled onto her back for belly rubs when meeting a neighbour’s one‑year‑old. She has shown nothing but kindness and calmness around little ones.

She is also well‑socialised around the three cats in her foster home. The older cat, set boundaries immediately, and Hallie respects him completely.

Hallie is a loving, expressive, and deeply sweet girl who thrives on affection, gentle guidance, and being part of family life.

Needs:

Hallie will thrive in a calm, steady family home where she is included in daily life and supported with clear routine. She is a girl who blossoms when she feels secure, understood, and part of her humans’ everyday routine.

She needs a family who can understand her needs and who have the time, patience, and consistency to continue building her confidence. Her reactivity outdoors is something that will require ongoing training, reassurance, and structured management, but she responds beautifully to calm, confident handling.

Hallie’s long coat means she will need regular grooming to prevent matting and keep her comfortable.

A secure garden is essential. Hallie adores the resident dogs in her foster home and is confident with dogs indoors, but she is reactive towards unfamiliar dogs outside. Having a safe outdoor space allows her to enjoy fresh air and play without encountering triggers.

Hallie would love a canine companion, male or female, provided they are spayed or neutered. Introductions may need to be slow and steady, but once she feels safe, she bonds deeply. Because of her past, she is far more confident with dogs inside the home than outside, and her new family will need to manage this with patience, understanding, and continued positive reinforcement.

Hallie is a loving, loyal girl who simply needs the right environment and support to continue flourishing.

Walk/exercise:

Hallie is a girl who genuinely enjoys her walks. She walks well on the lead, loves to sniff and explore, and is always eager to head out with her humans. She has been walked confidently by all four adults in the home and alongside your younger boys, though the children do not hold her lead due to her reactivity around unfamiliar dogs.

When it comes to other dogs, Hallie’s behaviour changes. If an unfamiliar dog approach even from across the road she can become highly reactive, pulling and barking in an attempt to drive them away. It’s her “Rambo mode,” and while it looks dramatic, it comes from a place of uncertainty rather than aggression. This is something her new family will need to continue.

Hallie is also walked with resident dogs, and she is excellent with them. She doesn’t try to take control, doesn’t compete, and fits into the group beautifully. She’s equally happy to go out on her own, enjoying the fresh air and the feeling of wind in her fur. She loves being included so much that you often have to sneak out quietly to avoid her insisting on coming along.

With continued training, patience, and consistent handling, she will remain a wonderful walking companion who thrives on routine, reassurance, and being part of her humans’ daily adventures.

Toilet trained:

Hallie is a very good girl.

Travel:

Hallie is a very good traveller, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Hallie is overweight so must stay on her current deficit diet until she reaches her ideal weight.

Due to Hallie’s weight, she is a heatstroke risk, so her owners need to understand the risks and how to prevent them.

Hallie will be adopted on a “to be spayed” contract, she will be recalled Oct 2026 to be spayed at a vet of the charities choosing, costs covered by the charity.

Unfortunately, due to Hallie’s past we cannot be certain of her age however vets believe that she is no older than 4/5.

Sometimes bulldogs can be excited to play but don’t realise their size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as they have the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

From the moment Hallie arrived she stole our hearts. Her gentle soul and the softness in her eyes shined through from the moment we met her. Hallie-Bear, Hallie-Bow has so much affection to give to the people in her furever home. I have never had the privilege of having a dog more loving than Hallie. She is simply perfect and will be pleasure for any potential adoptees.

Hallie’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. And the admin team are available for advice and support for the whole of that dog’s lifetime via Messenger, therefore the successful applicant will need to have an active Facebook and Messenger account for the life of the dog. If you cannot agree to this, please don’t apply**

Hallie’s story.

We have a heartbreaking story to share with you this evening…

Last week, we were contacted by a kennels that was supporting the police with a truly heartbreaking animal welfare case. The police attended the property of someone who is banned from owning animals!  For some background, it takes a great deal for someone to receive a ban on owning animals in the UK!

When officers entered the property, they found 17 dogs in the owner’s care. We can’t even begin to imagine the conditions these poor dogs were living in!!

Thankfully we were contacted and able to offer safety to one of them.

Please meet Hallie, one of the 17 dogs seized that day.

You’ll notice that Hallie isn’t a traditional English Bulldog, which is the breed we usually open our doors to. She is a Mammut Bulldog. However, when a dog needs urgent help and a safe place to go, we simply can’t turn them away.

Hallie was collected from the kennels over the weekend by our fabulous volunteer, Allison, from the Yorkshire & Humberside region.

So far, Hallie is settling in well. She has been enjoying her walks and absolutely loves soaking up attention from her foster family. She is still a little unsure of her furry foster siblings, but she’s only just beginning to decompress. We’re hopeful that, as she continues to settle, she’ll soon realise they could become her new best friends.

Surprisingly, Hallie’s overall condition doesn’t appear to be too bad at first glance, aside from being very smelly and having matted fur. We’re hoping it’s nothing that some TLC, proper care, and lots of love can’t fix. As with all of our dogs, Hallie will be visiting the vets for a full health check to make sure she gets everything she needs.
