A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Lewie is the quintessential bulldog big, bold, and blissfully unaware of personal boundaries.
Lewie may occasionally forget his manners, but his cheeky grin, playful spirit, and overflowing affection more than make up for it.
Lewie doesn’t just win hearts he bulldozes his way right into them.
Behaviour:
Lewie is happiest when surrounded by his favourite squeaky treasures and the humans he adores.
While Lewie can be protective of his space around other dogs, he’s nothing but sweet and respectful with people.
He knows his basic commands though whether he chooses to follow them depends entirely on his mood (and maybe a treat or two). He is very food orientated.
Needs:
Lewie is looking for a forever family who can match his energy with gentle structure a home that’s active but calm, where he’s included in the rhythm of daily life.
He thrives when he’s part of the action, whether that’s helping with chores or lounging nearby during quiet moments.
Lewie could live alongside a very calm female dog, but he’d be just as happy reigning solo as the cherished prince of the household.
A secure garden is essential for his playtime and sniffing adventures it’s his favourite place to unwind and explore.
Walk/exercise:
For Lewie, exercise is pure joy his happy place, where his playful spirit truly shines.
He adores his daily walks and takes great pride in exploring the world around him, whether he’s strolling solo or keeping pace with a trusted companion.
Lewie isn’t one to fuss over unfamiliar dogs; he’s far more interested in sniffing out new scents and soaking in his surroundings.
Walks aren’t just routine for Lewie they fulfil, his curiosity, and give him freedom.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Lewie is a good boy.
Travel:
Lewie travels very well.
Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Lewies family must understand his additional needs understanding allergies in dogs.
He must stay on a controlled diet of Purina hypoallergenic kibble.
Lewie will need medication for life Apoquel to manage his allergies.
Lewie is scheduled for neutering and cherry eye repocketing on 10/11/2025. He will not be available for rehoming until he has fully recovered and received veterinary clearance.
Sometimes Lewie is excited to play but doesn’t realise his size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as he has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Lewie’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.
**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. And the admin team are available for advice and support for the whole of that dog’s lifetime via Messenger, therefore the successful applicant will need to have an active Facebook and Messenger account for the life of the dog. If you cannot agree to this, please don’t apply**

Lewie’s story.
Please meet Lewie …who is 4 years old and who has sadly been neglected.
We can’t go into detail about how Lewie has come to us, as it’s a sensitive situation, but he is safe and that’s all that matters
Lewie is in foster with Cath Hall in Yorkshire and he is proving to be an absolute sweetheart as neglected dogs often are
Thank you for taking Lewie into foster Cath, as always, we very much appreciate you opening you home for our dogs
Lewie had a bit of an unsettled 1st night but he is now getting used to his new surroundings and foster fur bro Zeus
You can see Lewie has been neglected, he is full of yeast infection, he needs his cherry eye repocketing, he has yeast in his years, and his claws are in a terrible state..!
Cath has been bathing him with medicated shampoo and has cleaned his ears, but he stinks to high heaven with infection. Cath has managed to get his claws trimmed but it’s a work in progress as the quicks have grown down into the nail
Lewie is booked in for his vet check tomorrow and we can then sort his treatment plan going forward and get him fit enough for his neuter and cherry eye ops.
