A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Peppa is a loving, affectionate girl with bags of character and that wonderful, cheeky Bulldog personality. She is a real little character who will keep her family entertained with her funny antics, occasional stubborn streak and curious nature. She loves her walks and enjoys getting out and about, but she is equally happy snuggling up with her favourite humans for cuddles and a snooze.

Peppa has a particularly sweet way of self-soothing by snuggling up with her soft toys, and she loves having them close by when it’s time to settle down. She is a sociable, happy girl who loves to be part of the action, whether that means playing with her canine friends, exploring the garden or keeping an eye on what everyone is up to.

Peppa does have a mischievous side, so keep an eye on your cuppa if you leave it within reach, and don’t be surprised if she decides a cardboard box or a tempting houseplant is far more interesting than her own toys! Peppa is a delightful little soul who will bring plenty of laughter, cuddles and love to her forever home.

Behaviour:

Peppa has settled beautifully into foster care and has been an absolute pleasure to have around. She gets along brilliantly with other dogs and has fitted straight into the resident dogs’ routine as though she’s lived there forever! She particularly enjoys playing with her younger canine friend, Spud, and the pair love a good game of tug. It’s safe to say she’s more than happy to have a playmate to keep her entertained!

She responds well to treats and knows some basic commands, including sit and paw, and she’s also happy to offer a kiss or two! Peppa can be a little cheeky and curious, occasionally needing a gentle reminder that not everything is there for her amusement. Thankfully, she takes these reminders in her stride and has shown no signs of resource guarding or any concerning behaviour when asked to leave something alone. She’s a clever girl, but we suspect she likes to keep her humans on their toes!

Peppa absolutely loves her toys! She arrived with around 20 soft toys, which she happily plays with and snuggles up to for comfort. Clearly, she believes a girl can never have too many teddies, so her forever home will need a good supply for both playtime and bedtime cuddles. She also has a rather unusual hobby of chewing cardboard boxes, so best not leave the recycling unattended unless you’re happy to let her help with the shredding! With Peppa around, there’s never a dull moment, and you’ll certainly never be short of entertainment!

Needs:

Peppa is looking for an active, loving home with a secure garden where she can run about, explore and generally keep herself entertained! Having another dog in the home is a must, and she would love a friendly canine companion of a similar age or younger who enjoys a good play session and having a four-legged sidekick.

This playful, inquisitive girl loves having fun and keeping busy, but she also knows the importance of putting her paws up when it’s time for cuddles and a snooze. Her new family should be ready for plenty of fun, offer her gentle guidance and give her all the love and attention she deserves. Ideally, they’ll appreciate that life is always a little more entertaining with Peppa around!

Peppa’s family will also need to keep on top of her skin condition, for which she’s currently taking Zenrelia, to help keep her feeling her best. In return, they’ll get a lovely companion who will bring plenty of personality, affection and fun into their lives. With a canine buddy to play with and a comfy spot to crash out afterwards, Peppa will be one very happy girl!

Walk/exercise:

Peppa loves her walks and is a pleasure to walk on the lead. She can be a little excited when heading out of the door, but once she’s outside, she settles beautifully and walks really nicely. She’s happy walking on her own or alongside her foster sister, Beanie, and the pair make a lovely walking team. Peppa is also very sociable when out and about, showing a friendly interest in other dogs and wanting to say hello when given the opportunity.

Peppa enjoys having space to stretch her legs and have a little run around, and she has had fun exploring an enclosed field with her foster companions. Her recall is promising, as she tends to stay close by and will happily come back for a tasty treat.

Toilet trained:

Peppa is fully house-trained and hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home since arriving.

Travel:

Peppa travels beautifully in the car and is as good as gold! She has travelled securely in the boot and also in the front passenger seat with a seatbelt restraint. She particularly enjoys sitting in the passenger seat, watching the world go by before curling up for a little snooze. Car journeys don’t seem to bother this lovely girl, making her a great little travel companion! Because of this we will consider homes up to four hours from her foster home.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

Things to be aware of:

Peppa is currently receiving Zenrelia to help manage her skin condition, so her new family will need to continue her treatment and keep an eye on her skin. She arrived with infections in both ears and an abscess, but these have been treated, and the abscess has fully healed.

She can be a little mischievous and may need a few reminders to leave things alone, particularly if something catches her attention! She also has a habit of barking at the hoover, so you may find yourself with a little commentary during cleaning. Cats have not been tested, and although she has previously lived with young children according to her former owner, her interactions with children have not been fully assessed in foster care.

Sometimes Peppa is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Peppa’s foster family:

Peppa is just the sweetest girl with plenty of Bulldog character! She is very loving, cheeky and stubborn. Peppa gets on so well with other dogs that she absolutely must have one in her new home. The way she self-soothes is just so cute. Do watch your cups of tea or coffee though – she will steal a sip if she can. She also absolutely loves a cardboard box to chew on and to eat plants when you’re not looking. Overall, this little girl will fit in so well and have you laughing and awwing on a daily basis.

Peppa’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

Peppa’s Story

Please welcome Peppa

Peppa arrived with us following what initially sounded like a straightforward surrender. We were told she had been rehomed in April and her new family only discovered after adopting her that she was pregnant.

She went on to have 10 puppies by C-section. Her puppies were sold and, around 10–11 weeks after giving birth, Peppa herself is surrendered to us and needing rescue help… however, when we received her veterinary history, things didn’t quite add up.

Her records show that in February — before the claimed April rehoming Peppa had undergone progesterone/ovulation testing associated with breeding, despite veterinary advice not to breed her.

We’re not going to speculate about exactly what happened, but the information we’ve received simply doesn’t appear to tell the whole story.

Sadly, Peppa has already needed her first emergency veterinary visit since arriving with us.

She has come into rescue with an infected abscess on her mammary gland and a wound approximately 4cm deep which isn’t healing. She now requires surgery. She also has a double ear infection, and the vet has discussed potentially removing some of the excess skin from her undercarriage to help her going forward. God love her.

So what we DO know is that this beautiful girl is only 2 years old, has produced a litter of 10 puppies, those puppies have been sold and, just weeks later, Peppa has ended up in rescue needing veterinary treatment and surgery.

Whatever happened before she reached us, one thing is certain: Peppa will never be bred from again. She will never be used to make money again.

She’s now safe in foster in the South West with Holly and her family, alongside Beanie and Spudley.

From here on, Peppa matters for Peppa , not for the puppies she can produce.

Welcome to Geordie Bullies, beautiful girl. We’ve got you now.
