A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Stella is an affectionate, playful girl who loves cuddles, belly rubs and plenty of attention—especially a good back or bottom rub.
She enjoys playing with people and her toys, and may greet her favourite humans with a delightfully sloppy kiss.
Stella is eager to form a close bond and would love to become her new family’s best friend. She also has that typical stubborn bulldog charm and knows what she does and does not want.
If she is not keen on doing something, she can be vocal and will make her feelings known, so she will thrive with patient, understanding adopters who respect her boundaries.
With her loving nature and big personality, Stella is sure to bring plenty of happiness and character to the right home.
Behaviour:
After a slightly unsettled first day, Stella has become good friends with the resident dog. They enjoy playing together, sharing toys, play-fighting and sleeping beside one another.
Stella is generally relaxed around other dogs, although meals should be served separately because she can be very interested in food and may try to steal anything left over.
Stella is food-motivated and responds well to treats, which can help encourage her during training. She already knows how to sit and give her paw.
She loves her toys and is happy to share them during playtime.
Around children, Stella is curious and may come over to investigate before wandering off again.
She is fed separately and knows when dinner time is approaching, often following her foster carer into the kitchen. If she is still hungry, she may try to steal food, so calm and consistent mealtime management will be important.
Stella also has the stubborn bulldog charm described in her personality section. If she does not want to do something, she can make her feelings known and has occasionally grumbled or snatched. She will therefore need patient, understanding adopters who can read her signals, respect her boundaries and use positive, reward-based encouragement.
Needs:
A calm but active home would suit Stella beautifully, where she can enjoy affection, playtime and gentle exercise without feeling overwhelmed. Her ideal family will understand bulldogs and appreciate their unique quirks, including Stella’s lovable stubborn streak and her need to do some things at her own pace.
She needs patient, consistent adopters who can put kind, clear boundaries in place and continue her training using positive, reward-based methods. Stella responds well to treats and encouragement, so a family willing to invest time in helping her build confidence and make good choices will bring out the very best in her.
Stella would benefit from living with a calm, playful and dog-savvy resident dog who is comfortable welcoming a new companion into the home. Introductions should be slow and carefully managed, as Stella can feel anxious at first, but with time and reassurance she has shown that she can form a lovely bond and enjoy playing, sharing toys and relaxing alongside another dog.
A secure, enclosed garden is essential, giving Stella a safe space for toilet breaks, fresh air and relaxed outdoor time while she settles into her new routine. Her adopters will need to supervise her and keep the garden secure at all times.
Stella can live with dog-savvy children aged 10 or over who are able to understand and respect her boundaries. Children should give her space when she is resting, eating or feeling unsure, and interactions should be calm and supervised while everyone gets to know one another. In return, Stella will offer plenty of affection, playful moments and loyal companionship to a family who gives her the patience and understanding she deserves.
Walk/exercise:
Stella is currently having short, controlled walks while she recovers from BOAS surgery. Her exercise will need to be increased gradually, at a pace that allows her to build stamina safely and comfortably.
She loves going for walks and is well behaved on the lead, with no pulling. Stella likes to take her time, stopping to enjoy a good sniff and explore her surroundings.
Stella is generally more interested in exploring the park than approaching other dogs. If a dog comes over, she may have a quick sniff before moving on to investigate something more interesting.
She has not yet been walked off lead, so her recall is currently unknown. Her new family should keep her safely on lead while continuing her training and getting to know her responses outdoors.
Toilet trained:
Stella’s toilet training is still a little hit and miss, particularly overnight. Even when the door is left open, she may choose not to go outside and can sometimes be reluctant to leave the comfort of her bed.
In true bulldog fashion, Stella likes to do things in her own time. If she feels pressured to go out for her final toilet break, she may become vocal or grumble to make her feelings known, but she has not bitten. A calm, consistent routine, gentle encouragement and plenty of praise will help her feel comfortable and make steady progress.
Travel:
Stella does not enjoy travelling and can become stressed in the car. To keep her journey to a new home as short and comfortable as possible, applications will be considered from families living within approximately one hour of her current location.
When collecting Stella, we recommend bringing another adult who can sit close by, offer calm reassurance and help her feel safe throughout the journey.
Whenever Stella travels, she should be secured using a suitable seatbelt restraint or a correctly fitted travel crate. This will help keep her safe and supported while the vehicle is moving.
**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**
Things to be aware of:
Stella will be adopted on a “to be spayed” contract, with the procedure carried out at a vet chosen by the charity and the cost covered by the charity.
Stella will not be rehomed with any entire dogs.
Stella has undergone BOAS surgery and will need an understanding family who are committed to supporting her ongoing health needs. Her adopters should monitor her breathing, manage her exercise carefully and help her avoid becoming overheated, particularly during warmer weather.
Sometimes Bulldogs are excited to play but don’t realise their size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as they have the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Stella’s story.
Please welcome the newest member of the GBSR family Stella!
Stella has sadly come into our care following a relationship breakdown within her family. We kindly ask that everyone refrains from judgement, as we know these decisions are never made lightly and are often incredibly difficult. Stella is a 4-year-old entire female who is already proving to be a sweet, loving girl. She’s settling in beautifully at her foster home with Lisa in the North West, where she’s also enjoying the company of her resident pooch.
Stella has also just come into season, so she’ll be taking things nice and easy while she settles into her new surroundings. We’re excited to watch Stella grow in confidence and let her personality shine. So far, we’ve noticed she’s on the smaller side, but we’re sure Lisa will have her filled out in no time with a few extra tasty toppings on her meals!
Over the coming days, Stella will be booked in with the vet for a full assessment and health check to make sure she’s happy and healthy. For now, please join us in giving Stella the warm GBSR welcome she deserves!
Please note: Stella has only just arrived in foster care and is not yet available for adoption. At this stage, we will not be accepting expressions of interest, pre-interest, or early adoption applications. Stella needs time to settle, complete her assessments, and finish her season before we can begin looking for her perfect forever home. We will let everyone know as soon as she is ready.
