A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Bonnie is a sweet natured, affectionate, and laid-back little girl.
She is every bit a companion dog and will happily spend her days at her human’s side.
Bonnie is playful and will seek you out with her toys when its time to play, usually between her napping schedules.
Bonnie loves to snuggle up and she will cuddle right in at nap time.
Behaviour:
Bonnie is very strong and will paw you when she wants attention. She will initiate rough play where she will mouth you very gently and will stop as soon as you ask her too.
Bonnie has the typical bulldog stubborn streak when getting her face, ear and folds cleaned but she will go along with it.
Bonnie isn’t the best sharer with toys, so this will need to be closely monitored if a resident dog has similar traits.
Bonnie doesn’t like loud/sudden noises and she will bark.
Bonnie loves a bath; you may end up sharing a bath/shower even when it’s not her turn. And Bonnie loves being dried by a hairdryer after a bath or walks in the rain.
Bonnie is very food oriented and needs to be fed separately from other dogs as she will attempt to eat their food as well.
Bonnie is such an obedient little girl and responds very well to requests and training.
Needs:
Bonnie needs a calm but active family home, one which her family will keep her included in daily life.
Preferably with someone home with her the majority of the day.
A garden is a must for her to play in and explore.
Bonnie would benefit from a calm and laid-back dog for company. But any dog I the home must not have any possessive or guarding behaviours.
Walk/exercise:
Bonnie loves a walk, although may on occasion need a little persuasion and bribery if its wet.
She walks well on the lead and may occasionally zig zag in front of you. She tends to stay by your side and will match your pace.
Bonnie is happy to walk with company or on her own and will meet unfamiliar dogs with excitement and play behaviours.
Toilet trained:
Yes, Bonnie is a very good girl.
Can be left:
Bonnie will happily settle down and nap in her bed when she is left. She can be left for up to 4 hours on occasion.
Travel:
Bonnie travels very well, she will settle on the back seat and nap during her ride. Because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours away from her current location. We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting a dog.
Things to be aware of:
Bonnie had some issues sharing toys prior to coming into GBSR, however we have not seen any of this behaviour displayed during her time in foster.
Bonnie has recently had her cherry eye repocketed and may go home needing to complete a course of eye drops.
Sometimes Bonnie is excited to play but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.
Additional information:
Bonnie is an absolute ray of sunshine; she has been such a happy little soul since coming into GBSR. And has proved to be everything you could possibly want from a bulldog. Bonnie will be such a wonderful addition to a family home, where she will grow and help make the happiest memories for many years to come.
A little of Bonnie’s story below,
Please welcome the gorgeous Bonnie to our GBSR family!
Bonnie is a 3year old entire female.
We were contacted by a lady who had bought Bonnie from an online ad a week ago. When the lady went to meet her, she felt she couldn’t leave her in the conditions.
Bonnie didn’t settle well with the ladies Frenchie she was guarding toys which had caused a few fights, So she contacted one of our fabulous volunteers who tried to help, support her and guide her, but in the end it was clear that Bonnie couldn’t stay there.
Bonnie has cherry eye so she will be booked into our vets for a health check, and we can get her spayed and her eye fixed as soon as possible. And she’s a little more on the leaner side than we would like so we will make sure she is up to her ideal weight in no time.
A big welcome to Sharon Shreeve to our fabulous foster family, thank you for jumping into action and collecting beautiful Bonnie so quickly.
Bonnie is settling very well with Sharon in the North East and is doing really well with Lucy, Sharon’s JRT who is much older and not interested in toys.
Welcome to your journey for the happily ever after you deserve Bonnie!!
