Buster – Sadly at Rainbow bridge

Buster is a very loving boy, who likes to really cuddle in close to get lots of fuss & attention. He is playful and loves rough play and tug of war. He is obedient and understands commands and has been fabulous with the 8-year-old child in the home.

Buster really enjoys his walks, and he needs plenty of good exercise to keep him happy and content.

Dogs name: Buster

Age:  4 years, 9 months

Can live with children:  Yes aged 8 years and above

Can live with dogs: Yes, must be sterilised and be happy to share their home with another dog

Can live with cats:  No, and no other furries

Current location:  Woking, Surrey

Things to be aware of:

Buster has previously been reactive to other dogs. His foster dad has worked hard with him over the past few weeks and has made very good progress using a short lead and a command to ‘Walk On’ when confronted with other dogs. Buster has responded to firm commands extremely well to the point where he barely reacts.

It is imperative that his new owners understand the technique used with Buster, He is strong on the lead, but he relaxes when the control is taken by his foster dad so his new owner will need to provide the same kind of security.

Flashpoints for Buster are barking dogs and squirrels and he is on Apoquel for allergies which irritate his feet on occasion.

The ideal home:

Buster needs a calm but active home where he will get exercised at least once a day and have the use of a garden.

He is great with children but because of his size we prefer any children in the home to be aged 8 years and above.

His new family also need to be dog savvy, ideally with knowledge of English Bulldogs but this is not essential, and any handling or training experience would be beneficial.

Buster has proved he can live with other dogs in foster (he has done so twice now) so we are happy for him to have a canine friend in the family who is happy to share their home with another dog.

Other comments:

Buster may regress a little when he goes to his new home, so it is essential that his new family do not give up on him in the first few weeks.

He has shown that with time he starts to shine so we need someone who understands this and who wants to work with Buster.

Buster needs a strong pack leader for him to follow and as part of his rehoming package we are offering 3 months online training with South End Dog Training. The techniques we have used with Buster in foster are those applied from the online training, and they have been very successful.

We would love to see Buster settled in his forever home. He has been living in foster with Meika who has been fabulous for Buster as she provides him with confidence outside on his walks, she doesn’t bark and is not reactive, she is a pretty chilled out girl.

Busters’ ideal choice of resident dog will be an older, calm and relaxed sterilised female dog sized from a Frenchie up. Buster isn’t overly playful so an ‘in your face’ excitable dog won’t work for him, he prefers to be chilled out.

Buster needs his own space where he can take himself off for some ‘Buster Time’ and ideally there will be room for slow introductions with crate separation and his foster family are will to take foster to meet potential new families within a reasonable distance.

Please don’t be put off by the comments about being reactive to other dogs, he really is a smashing and extremely loving boy and with the right interaction and understanding he will carry on flourishing with his new family.

Buster travels well so we will consider a new home for him up to 4 hours from his current location.

Buster’s adoption donation fee is £400 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.
