Dotty – Now Adopted!

We are so happy to be able to announce that Dotty has gone home!!

Dotty is the first of our Appledown 5 to find her happy ever after, after being found abandoned and unwanted.

Dotty’s new slaves Livie and James collect her over the weekend, and it was love at first sight.

She has been exploring her new home and is feeling very settled already.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Dotty’s fabulous foster mum Kelsey for taking such good care of her and preparing Dotty for her forever home.

We will be forever thankful to you!

So will you all please join us in congratulating Livie and James on their beautiful new girl. We hope you have lots of happy years and make lots of wonderful memories together!!

To Dotty, enjoy your happy ever after sweetheart, nothing but love and happiness for you now. You are very much wanted and loved.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Dotty is a very sweet natured and energetic young girl.

Dotty is every bit a companion, and wants to be with her humans, whether that is napping at their feet or out exploring on long walks.

Dotty does enjoy a good zoomie and will spend her days making you laugh and keeping you entertained with her antics.

Behaviour:

Dotty will initiate rough play; she is very responsive when told to stop and will settle down immediately.

Dotty will find every opportunity possible to curl up and squish onto your lap.

Dotty isn’t very playful with toys, but she absolutely loves her bone and will play with it.

Dotty isn’t familiar with commands, but is responsive and eager to learn especially when food/treats are involved.

Needs:

Dotty needs an active family home, one with a family that will keep her involved with daily family life.

Preferably with someone home with her for the majority of the day.

Dotty will benefit from having another dog in the home, to keep her company when her humans are away and to teach her new families routine.

Walk/exercise:

Dotty loves to walk and explore, she will happily walk for up to 2hours.

Dotty walks well with company or alone, she will happily meet unfamiliar dogs but shows no interest in interacting with them.

Dotty absolutely loves all attention from people she meets and will say hello to everyone.

Toilet trained:

Dotty came to GBSR from kennels after being abandoned. She has thrived in her foster home but may have accidents whilst learning her new routine. Dotty doesn’t bark to be let out but will sit at the door when she needs to.

Can be left:

Dotty isn’t a fan of being left alone for long periods of time, however having another dog for company will help this.

Dotty may have a cry for 10minutes but will settle down to sleep.

It is preferred that Dotty’s new family has someone home with her, especially during her settling in period.

Because of this we would ask that Dotty wasn’t left for longer than 4 hours at a time.

Travel:

Dotty travels very well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.

Things to be aware of:

Sometimes Dotty is excited to meet people but doesn’t realise her size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as she has the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information:

Dotty is a tiny little girl who has stolen our hearts, she is a well-rounded bulldog who any family would be lucky to adopt. If you are looking for a dog for company, long walks and creating happy memories then Dotty is your girl. She will spend the rest of her days making you laugh and making sure you never feel alone for a single moment ever again.

A little of Dotty’s story below,

You may have seen our post earlier this week, announcing 4 dogs (who were dumped together) coming to into foster and an additional stray, all from Appledown Kennels.

On Wednesday we introduced Rosie who is now in foster with Pam and Mark in the Midlands.

Today we welcomed

Dotty, 2 years old, dumped, now in foster with Kelsey Arpino in the Midlands

We rely on our own fundraising via organised walks, donations, Auction Group and Lucky Numbers to support the charity and you are always amazing when we ask for help. But sadly, this is an ongoing situation so we are always trying to fill up the pot.

If you would like to help this week’s intake, then please consider donating towards them

From £1 to £100, we don’t judge, please feel free to donate any amount. We are forever grateful for the support we have in our community, Thank you as always for your support… these are exceptional times for Rescues across the UK
