A BIT ABOUT ME

Personality:

Rozay is an incredibly affectionate boy who adores human contact. If you stop stroking him, he’ll gently paw at you to ask for more, and he melts for a good belly rub or a scratch inside his tail pocket. He is a dog who loves closeness, comfort, and connection.

He can be a little nervous around new experiences or loud noises, but in true bulldog fashion he’ll bravely sniff, investigate, and assess until he decides everything is safe then he moves on without fuss. His confidence grows quickly with reassurance.

Rozay is deeply loving and happiest when he knows his people are nearby. He likes to be close, but he is also calm and secure when left. If you’re upstairs, he’ll simply wait quietly at the stairgate; if you leave the house, he settles himself to sleep. He has been left for almost five hours and spent the entire time snoozing peacefully.

He is wonderfully trustworthy in the home he hasn’t chewed or damaged anything other than his own toys and can have access to all rooms without issue. Although his previous owner allowed him on the sofa, he has never attempted to get on yours, even when unsupervised.

Rozay is a truly lovely lad: gentle, affectionate, easy going, and eager to please. After three bulldogs, his foster family say he is the easiest they’ve ever cared for, and he will make someone an exceptionally loving companion.

Behaviour:

Rozay is a playful, good‑natured boy who loves his toys, especially his ball, yak bars, and anything with rope for a game of tug. He plays beautifully with other dogs at the park, happily sharing toys and even allowing his foster carer to take a borrowed ball from him without issue. He’s a sociable lad who enjoys fun, gentle interaction.

He has shown that he’s happy to share most toys, though sticks are his one exception. During a lake play session he became mouthy and growled when another dog grabbed the other end of a stick he was carrying. Once removed from the situation and the stick taken away, he settled immediately. This behaviour is easily managed with simple redirection and avoiding stick‑sharing.

Rozay can be mouthy during play and may hump when he becomes overstimulated, but he responds well to calm interruption and guidance. His behaviour is rooted in excitement rather than any form of challenge, and he is quick to settle once redirected.

Overall, Rozay is a joyful, toy‑loving bulldog with a kind heart, good manners, and a playful spirit. With clear boundaries and continued positive guidance, he will be a wonderfully fun and loving companion.

Needs:

Rozay will thrive in a calm, steady home environment where he feels secure and included in daily life. He isn’t suited to long periods of being left alone, so his ideal family is one that can offer companionship, routine, and plenty of involvement.

He can live with children aged 12+, simply because his playful nature includes some mouthy behaviour during excitement. He has no malice whatsoever, but children need to be old enough to understand his play style and confidently maintain boundaries.

A secure garden is essential for this fun‑loving boy, giving him space to play, explore, and enjoy himself safely.

Rozay could happily live as an only dog, or he would enjoy the company of a calm, spayed female who shares his gentle, playful energy.

Rozay may be prone to dry eye in the future. His family will need to understand the condition and be confident in managing it should it develop.

Walk/exercise:

Rozay is a boy who genuinely loves his walks. He sets off with plenty of enthusiasm and can be a little keen on the lead at first, but a brisk 20‑minute stretch is all he needs to settle. Once he’s had that initial burst, he happily toddles along at a gentler pace, enjoying the world around him. He’s currently walked on a short lead, which he prefers, as it doesn’t brush against his back when slack something that can startle him.

Out and about, Rozay is friendly and curious. He’s walked alongside other dogs and is always happy to say hello, have a sniff, and share a little playtime. In true bulldog fashion, he can occasionally bowl straight over to greet them, which may surprise more sensitive dogs, but his intentions are always kind.

Rozay has also enjoyed several sessions in a secure field, where he loves nothing more than exploring freely. His recall is still a work in progress he has selective hearing when he’s busy adventuring but he always keeps track of his people. If he loses sight of you, he becomes worried, and if you walk away, he’ll immediately run to catch up, showing just how closely bonded he feels to his humans.

Toilet trained:

Rozay is a good boy, but due to his nervous nature he may have accidents initially as he settles. However as soon as he knows what is expected of him, he soon settles into routine.

Travel:

Rozay travels very well, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from his current location.

We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:

Rozay has unfortunately had to have both tear glands removed. His eyes will need regular check-ups as he has the potential to develop dry eye and need lifelong eye drops and lubricant.

Sometimes Rozay is excited to play but don’t realise their size, any young children in the home must be supervised, as they have the potential to jump and knock children over.

Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Rozay’s foster family:

Rozay has been our first foster & I think we have been a little spoilt with this gorgeous, loving darn handsome boy. He is so easy to have around, all he asks for is your love & a belly stroke or four! He loves nothing more than tearing limbs off any toy he has, a game of football and tug with any rope is a favourite too. He has become an expert at demolishing his favourite yak bars and is regularly running up & down the garden with one in his mouth to find the best sunspot to lie in & chew. He charms everyone that meets him, someone will be extremely lucky to have this gorgeous boy live with them forever.

Rozay’s adoption donation fee is £450 and will need to be paid in full prior to him going home which will also be subject to a home check.

**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. And the admin team are available for advice and support for the whole of that dog’s lifetime via Messenger, therefore the successful applicant will need to have an active Facebook and Messenger account for the life of the dog. Rozay’s story.

Please meet the very handsome 5-year-old Rozay, who has been surrendered into our care due to a heartbreaking change in circumstances. Rozay’s dad, who has lovingly cared for him since he was just 5 months old, has become the sole carer for an ill family member and could no longer provide Rozay with the time and attention he deserves.

As always, we kindly ask for no judgement towards Rozay’s family. They reached out to us during an incredibly difficult time, putting Rozay’s needs first, and we’re so grateful that we were able to help. We hope that knowing Rozay is receiving all the love, care and support he needs brings his family some comfort.

Over the weekend, Rozay was collected by his wonderful first-time foster family, Carly and her family in the Midlands.

As you can see from the photos, Rozay is currently suffering from cherry eye in both eyes and has some mild redness around his face. However, as with all of our dogs, he will be visiting the vets this week for a full health check so we can ensure he receives any treatment he may need.

As expected after such a significant change in his life, Rozay is taking a little time to settle into foster care. Even so, he is already showing everyone what a loving boy he is, greeting his foster family each morning and soaking up plenty of fuss and affection.

His cheeky and lovable personality is already beginning to shine through. So far, his favourite game seems to be pulling the washing back off the line after Carly has carefully hung it out to dry!
