Stanley – Now Adopted

Stanley is described as his foster family as a snuggly teddy bear! He absolutely loves humans and likes making new friends. He is a bit of a comic and is showing his cheeky side by stealing his foster family’s shoes and hiding them in his cage or other rooms!!!

Stanley wears a harness to walk with but he can run and hide when he sees it! He walks really well and doesn’t pull unless he sees another dog and wants to say hello. Stanley has very good recall and will come when you call his name, but he can go deaf if he sees another dog so care is needed.

Stanley can give a paw, sit and sometimes walks to heel if he is in the mood! You do often need to repeat to command to ensure he listens to you. Stanley doesn’t really ‘leave’ if asked and tends to ignore this command so it needs continued training.

Stanley loves toys and is not possessive. He loves chew toys such as nylabone and squeaky toys. He also loves a bit of rough play and wrestling, he just needs a firm no to signal the end of this type of play.

Stanley is ok with his cleaning regime and absolutely loves being brush. He’s a very people orientated and loves being hugged and stroked.

Things to be aware of:

Stanley is still a very young bully and will need a family that has time and patience to continue with the training his foster family has started.

Stanley can be a very stubborn boy and has been known to refuse to walk and often refuses to leave the house. His foster dad has had to carry him to the car so that they can drive to a nearby park. Once there Stanley is absolutely fine and happy to walk.

Stanley is very nervous of noises. He dislikes shouting, screaming, banging and traffic noise. He also dislike household noises such as the hoover and loading the dishwasher and will hide!

Stanley came into rescue due to not getting on with the other dog in the home, due to this we feel it best that Stanley is rehomed as an only dog.

The ideal home:

Stanley is a wonderful, loving boy, who in the right forever home will continue to grow and flourish.

Stanley needs a home that will be willing to continue the training commenced in foster and that have time and patience to help him to overcome his anxieties with general day to day noise.

Stanley is an excitable boy who dislikes loud noises such as screaming so we feel a home with children over 8 would be best suited so the children understand Stanley’s needs and are able to assist with his training.

As previously discussed Stanley will need to be the only dog in the home due to his history of not getting on with other dogs in the home.

Other comments:

Stanley has been a pleasure in foster and be a wonderful addition to a home who has the time to continue training. Stanley has used a crate in foster.

Stanley is toilet trained and travels well, we will consider a new home for him up to 4 hours from his current location in Eastleigh, Southampton.
